Love it but changes are disappointing

I’ve been playing this game on and off for a couple of years now, the art is so cute and I mainly play it as a way to relax but I’ve reached a point now where the levels are so hard it’s just frustrating and impossible to complete without paying for boosters or watching a million ads. It used to let me go back and play easier levels and see all the levels I’d already completed, but then there was an update and now I can only play the one level that I’m up to and can’t go back at all. Not sure if this is a bug or a new design but it’s making me lose interest in the game. Pretty disappointed 😔
