Still No Resolution to Major Problems With App

I no longer recommend this App at all. It used to be a pretty good app; but after installing the then most recent update, (which was quite a few updates back, all of which I installed; but none of which restored functionality), the app went from working flawlessly to not working at all. It would never finish opening (that is, “loading”) the app — just an endless-loop of that orbiting “waiting” signal on the blue pre-load “page”, circling forever.

I submitted a previous review back when the app first became dysfunctional, with a single star ★ rating, detailing the above; and offering to re-rate the app with 5 stars if the problem were ever fixed. At that point I hadn’t read many of the other reviews. Now I have read them; and it seems quite a few people have seemingly irretrievably lost quite a bit of money to these people. I just installed the latest update (7.21.1); and the app still doesn’t work at all on an iPhone 11 pro max, running software consistent with the requirements for the app as stipulated at the “App Store”. The old review that I wrote, I just discovered was erased from the App Store, and NOT by me. Therefore, I no longer recommend this App at all. If the issues are ever resolved, I may consider whether re-writing this review is warranted, but NOT until then.

I wasn’t going to do a review, but I suppose. I like the App, clean and simple to use. I’m lucky to travel with my work and this is just what I need. I know the rates are. Or what the street price is, but it puts me in the park and I know straight away, is it a good deal the purchase. But guys come on, stop holding us to ransom with an update. We will get round to it, wait till I’m on wifi in Delhi or Nairobi. But having to wait or stop the purchase because you want to do the update. Please let us have the choice when you update

Bad privacy via Plaid

XE is an ok service. They have good exchange rates. They used to be the best but there are a couple of services that give better rates now. Always shop around.

The annoying thing about the service is that it forces you to use Plaid for account transfer. Which means you have to hand over to paid all your account information including all transactions, total balance and it will be an ongoing data transfer until you delete the connection. This is super shady. Why do you need this level of access to make a single transaction. And even after that, even after they have verified funds in the account, they will wait, it still takes over a week for the funds to realise into their accounts before they initiate the transfer?! Then why not just use ACH? Its free! Wait a week for funds to clear. No risk for XE. No privacy issues for the customer. I believe it is because they want to monetise your data. Which is why they are forcing you to use plaid. Because it adds nothing in form of convenience to the customer. I asked customer service and they confirmed they will not allow you to setup a ACH transfer.

The only reason I gave a second star in the rating is because I was tracking a transfer and encountered an issue and called support and the agent was great and resolved my issue right away. Worth the extra star.

Widget no longer works

The XE widget does not work on the current iOS

App no longer functional.

App no longer functional since version 7.18.8 update. Device (iPhone) & iOS within spec’d parameters for version. App never finishes loading on attempt to open. “waiting” … & waiting & … (endless loop). “Update” needs a do-over. Will revise this review from 1 ★ to 5, if this gets fixed. (Won’t be able to use app any more, otherwise).

App still non-funct, after update to 7.18.9 – iOS within specs stipulated for App. Same problem continues: will not load. Was a good App before 7.18.8 (worked perfectly then). Tried “deleting”, then re-installing – same problem persists. Will upgrade review to 5★ if this gets fixed.

App still not loading after updating to 7.19.5 (I now see i somehow missed a few intervailing updates.) — Upon attempt to open, the App goes to the initial deep blue screen with XE logo, then the “waiting” signal starts endlessly orbiting the logo; but App never completes loading process to open the familiar “Home” screen. I hope You can determine the cause. (Tried the delete and re-install thing again, to no avail. I will upgrade this review to ★★★★★ when it gets resolved.

Update 7.20.0 still did not fix the problem — situation still exactly same as described above.

As of 7.20.1 this app will not load. — Same as above.

As of 7.20.3 this app still does not load. — Same as above.
