  • Old bug fixed, New big introduced.

Thanks for fixing the bug with saving google images.
Unfortunately, now the "Reorder Pictures" function no longer works when editing a storyboard. Sigh.
  • Great App

I would highly recommend icommunicate for anyone who uses visuals. The flexibility that this apps gives to the consumer just keeps getting better and better. The developers really do listen to their customer's needs and suggestions. Don't just take my word for it, check out for youselves you will be glad you did. :-)

  • Teach

I teach students with ASD, and communication disorders...icommunicate is an excellent communication tool for the home or classroom. Easy to use and adapt to any child's level. Amazing app...provides a child with a voice!

App developers are responsive and receptive! A "must have" app for parents and teachers...iPad/iTouch/ iPhone.
    Thanks, Cathy

  • Great update, the SymbolStix rock!

Earlier reviews said there is no audio but there is definitely audio, as long as you have a mic to record (my 4th gen iPod has this built in but I bought these cheap for my 3rd gen. iPod and used them with no problems. The built in text to speech in this app is decent enough for intelligibility.

First off, the SymbolStix rock! Also the check-off feature for task completion is awesome, and visually appealing. The lock feature is great!

I am the mom of an autistic child, and I work with children with special needs as well. This app has been wonderful, not to mention the tech support was very responsive when my evil computer started corrupting files. Until I got my hands on this I had been lamenting with my boss how we had no onsite laminator to whip up PECS to support an art project, play activity or story on the fly.
Well goodbye PECS! Well ok, not entirely- but for quick ways to support communication this is wonderful!- this way we are using way less ink too and we don't need to send in our PECS to be laminated and come back who-knows-when, then chop them up and add Velcro.

The categories for SymbolStix are coming soon, so my only issue is fixable in an update, I think- I'd love more flexibility with customizing the image names. Right now I can search for a word image and rename it to use in a storyboard, but I can't attach another name/label to that same image. It seems the name is rewritten permanently for that image, and the original label it had can't be found through an image search. For example, I renamed the SymbolStix image of a brain to "flexible thinking" and saved it to a project. Then when I searched for the brain to use again, it could only be found under "flexible thinking". It'd be great as you do a search in your pictures if pictures with both the original label and any other labels you ever assigned to an image, would come up.

I look forward to creating more storyboards (today I made a task completion "homework" and a storyboard on "social thinking").
They did not take long to make.
I love that when I have wi-fi I'm able to google images too! So many good things to say about this app!

  • Great app!

I bought this app for my almost-four-year-old daughter, and we both love it. I've been drawing schedules and social stories by hand - or creating them and printing them - and this app makes the same process SO much easier. I like being able to add images from google easily, and the audio is very easy to record. Every day, the first thing my daughter asks is to borrow my phone so that she can "see her schedule" for the day. Having this visual aid reduces her anxiety markedly.

The two features that I wish the app had and that are currently under development is the ability to backup storyboards and the ability to move items easily in the task completion list in case something needs to be changed. For now, I just leave a blank line between each task in the task completion list in case I need to add or switch something around on the fly. The spot doesn't show up when my daughter looks at the images, so it's a relatively easy solution.

  • iCommunicate

As usual, Grembe has done an excellent job of app development! This app is easy to use & personalize. I particularly like the story board capability. I would highly recommend this for anyone who would benefit from visual schedule(s) and cues.
  • Innovative and powerful

I am always amazed at how people innovate and leverage technology in the most simple ways to improve the lives of their kids. Here is an app that takes a real world problem faced by many families and provides a creative and clever way to help kids learn, gain confidence, and grow. Why is it powerful? Because, it provides total flexibility for parents, both in terms of visual images and sound, to customize the storyboards for their child's specific needs.

  • Useful

I wish we had this one sooner. A super way to storyboard and communicate with very young children. Easy interface, well done!
  • Mom

Great product... A great way for parents frustrated with daily routines... Easy to create your own story boards. I imagine it is also highly useful in a school setting- especially for aids who have one on one time.
  • Assistive Tech Consultant

It is important to note that this application does NOT include voice/sound. But it is nice as StoryBoarding and giving access to an organized list of photos for quick access. Nice format to locate what you need quickly and very easy for inexperienced users. If you are looking for an actual communication language then this is probably not what you need. It is very nice to facilitate some of the higher tech devices and take on a quick trip for easy access to photos and Storyboarding techniques.
