Really good dictionary
Really good dictionary and even more than that. I agree with the review below that plural forms would be great. The noun genders are only included when translating a word from English not when the word is searched independently, this would also be useful. There are some mistakes in conjugation, for example in past perfect the "helping verbs" sein and haben are consistently incorrect. Although having conjugation at all beats a paper dictionary or google translate hands down!

Extremely helpful
The new updated version of this English/German dictionary is absolutely wonderful.
Many features/settings: Font, Color, Underline, Help Section.
You do not have to carry a paper dictionary.
The single search update is great and saves time searching for words.
Verb conjugations are fabulous.
The following items are also very helpful:
The listings of several meanings for words.
The travel phrases and quizzes.
The definitions include parts of speech.
The nouns include gender, so very helpful in the German language.
And of course the great customer support and quick response.

Could be better.
No luck with first word I tried to look up; "unheimfallen". I thought it would at least have the same features as the free version, but it was lacking there too. Doing the quiz as a Canadian was interesting. There was some unfamiliar British terminology added that made it difficult to get a high score.

no need to lug a phrase book
This app was the most useful thing I brought to Germany. It was very easy to use and use it I did. I used it at museums to translate the information cards. I used it at cafes to help me figure out what I was ordering. And I uses it to impress my German friends by speaking complete sentences. German verbs are very difficult and confusing. This dictionary did not explain everything but it was very useful.

Excellent for learning German or English
The Ascendo German English app has several parts.
- Dictionary has comprehensive translations including German noun gender and doesn’t require an internet connection to use.
- Phrase book has 10 categories with most of the phrases a typical tourist would need. It doesn’t have a business category which I would find useful.
- Vocabulary tester is good when you have time to kill.
- Verb conjugator has been greatly improved in this version.
Overall I’m very satisfied.

Recommended for students
I recommend this dictionary for students because you can annotate translations. That's quite helpful for jotting down your own usage examples in addition to those provided.
Customizable Interface
This is a very good dictionary and phrase book which I have recommended to friends.
One feature I really like is being able to customize the definitions screen by choosing size and colors. My eyesight is not great so I set it to the bigger font size. Now I don't have to hold my iPhone three inches from my face to read the definitions. Would be nice to have same setting for phrases.

Ascenso German English Dict paid
Very poor app. Only present tense conjugations of 100 verbs. Does not even provide past participles.
