Good CHM reader
I tried the lite version of this app, along with several others, before purchasing this one.
The "quick jump" feature is very helpfully when scrolling through a large page; the ability to browse the entire photo gallery for a page is really nice, esp. when reading textbooks with figures that need referencing. However the best feature of this app is its ability to alter the text formatting within the app - this allows me to set the text so that it is easily read - I never have to scroll from right to left to read an entire line or squint to make out the text. These features make reading CHM files enjoyable.
I gave this app only 4 stars because it is missing 2 very important features:
1. The ability to perform a text search on an entire document. It can search a single page or the TOC well - but if you're looking for a term that isn't in the currently loaded page, you're out of luck until you load it. There is only one CHM reader in the app store, to my knowledge, that has this feature (CHM+). I currently use CHM+ as my default reader for this reason.
2. The ability to organize my files into folders.Show lessmtd91429

I can no longer open this app since the most recent update. I've tried closing all other apps and resetting my iPad mini but it still does not work.Hey Rey!

Edit. Please update for iPhone 5. The screen is larger. Take advantage of it.
great app for those who have books or files stored as chm files. simple as that.
students will especially find this app useful because of the ease of highlight. i still feel that highlight can be improved for efficiency
currently: select text, tap highlight, annotation box pops up, to continue reading and exit the box, you must click the tiny close button.
I think it would be better if when the annotation box pops up, you can close the box with one tap anywhere outside the box.
as other reviewers mentioned, searching is limited to the page
OR have a settings menu in which you can customize how you want to interact with the app. its minor things, but not enough to detract from a 5 star rating
regardless of minor nuances that can always be added in future versions, this is a great app.
this also gets 5 stars because the developer puts out a full function "lite" version (only limitation is 1 book at a time). That is completely reasonable. I bought the full version because I have about 20 or so files.Show lessbill 11
Very limiting!
This app does not support PDF (which CHM+ does). It does not allow u to organise files into folders. U cannot rename files. It switches off the iphone or ipad half way through transferring large files from the pc (you have to keep manually pressing the screen to make sure the iPhone or iPad doesn't sleep). Also, you can only upload one file at a time from the computer. These are limits discovered on the first day. Developer - Please fix them!Show lessObadah1000

The return of a great app
The app has had some problematic and frustrating updates recently which this last update mostly fixes or reverts. Remaining issues are less significant and easy to address so I'll update this review if/when they are.
Still has a few obvious features missing (file management, open in other app, full text search ...) which the dev says he plans to implement in 4.0; but not until the 4th quarter '12, at least. A very simple way to rename long/ugly filenames would be useful in the meantime, especially as there is no way to get the file out of CHMate (on device at least) to use another app to do this.

Good page margin but crashes
I like the idea of a page margin, but please make it so that the margin 'stays' permanent on the screen because when it is 'hidden', the width of the page changes and when u click on the screen again, the margin pops up again and again this changes the width as well. So the formatting keeps changing
Lastly, you CANT ENABLE text formatting. When I tried, it just crashes. Pls fix this, I never had this trouble in the past.Show lessHash
Reading option crashed with iOS 5
After I updated it it crashes everytime I enable extra text formatting. I couldnt read in night mode or change fonts anymore. Need a fix ASAP. Another thing is the 'find text' quickly disappear after more than 2x use for the same time. I need to restart the chm before being able to use the find text one more time.
Other than this is fine and deserve 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟but need a fix first, please!Show lesspakoce
