1.9.5

December 12, 2013

!!! PLEASE, DO NOT UPDATE YET - THERE IS A CRITICAL BUG THAT LEADS TO CRASHES - THE URGENT UPDATE IS ALREADY SUBMITTED FOR A REVIEW !!! - UI facelift for iOS 7 and new app icon - Improved support for iOS 7.0+ and 6.1+ - Updated vendors database (OUI) - Fixed a crash rarely arising during parsing DNS packets - On iOS 7+ the local device MAC-address won't appear (protected by iOS) - Minor UI tweaks (fixed layouts, alignments) - Minor bug fixes *** NOTE ON FURTHER UPDATES *** The production cycle of all our navigation and networking apps is being switched to more frequent updates. It’s clear by now that the old cycle of rare updates delivering much features doesn’t work well. Basically working for a long time on many features of one app only lead to significant delays in updating other apps. The new cycle is set to deliver small feature updates each one or two months or even as soon as a new feature is ready – we do have really big plans for all of these apps. Also we now have a dedicated full-time staff member that works on improving manuals for all apps. They are all to be completely rewritten to be simpler to understand in clearer English and to be translated to 10 more languages. Besides new manuals our plan includes writing and recording a set of articles and videos. We already got a lot of feedback from you. All of it is recorded and has found its place in our plans. If you have some more feature suggestions or corrections to the app translations please tell us using the contact form on our website. Next feature updates are scheduled for January. Documentation, articles and videos are set to be update as soon as they are ready. Like and follow us on Facebook to track updates: http://facebook.com/happymagenta Thanks for your great support!

1.9.3

November 6, 2012

v. 1.9.3 adds following improvements (read full list): - Compatible with iOS 7.x, 6.x, 5.x, 4.3 - Optimized for 4-inch Retina - Significantly improved reliability and stability - Improved detection of open ports, running services - Speedup of checking non-firewalled/non-shaped hosts - WHOIS supports many new TLDs and IDNs - 32-bit internationalized domain names (IDN) support - Corrected WHOIS output encoding for some TLDs and IDNs - Significantly improved Wake on LAN (WOL) - Auto-sending extra WOL packets to both LAN and WAN - External IP address auto-filled in WOL settings - Improved asynchronous DNS lookup logic - Improved processing of A>CNAME>…>CNAME>A records - Fixed DNS packet unpacking bug - Fixed rare ping socket pool overflow bug - Fixed ping sequence overflow after 192 packets - Updated vendors database Special techniques of analysis of the network behavior of non-firewalled and non-traffic-shaped network hosts provides faster speed of checking, and improved reliability of detection of firewall status and network services of a host. The Wake on LAN module is now easier to set up. When a host is being added and scanned its record is automatically updated with the external IP address of the router. Thus, there is no need to type in the WAN IP address for WOL manually. Also, it now sends extra WOL packets to both LAN and WAN eliminating the need to switch between LAN and WAN. *** Stay tuned for more updates - visit http://happymagenta.com and follow us on Facebook and Twitter.

Description of Net Status

Net Status lets you get a fast glimpse of what is happening now with your hosts, routers and other network devices connected to the Internet or LAN. The tool checks network services your hosts run for availability and presents the information in a convenient way in order to speed up the diagnostics of network problems. With Net Status you can quickly and easily determine which hosts and services are down from your monitoring list. Net Status employs asynchronous algorithms that allow Net Status to operate really fast. Fractions of a second are needed to check a host with quite a number of running services. Even problematic hosts won't slow down the check process for a time much longer than a timeout you specify. FEATURES - Group hosts into multiple checklists - Automatic scan of hosts for running services - E-mail check results - Predefined services for your convenience - Possibility to add custom services - Checks ICMP, TCP and UDP - MAC address and hardware vendor lookup - Wake on LAN or Wi-Fi - Wake over the Internet (using proper routers) - Ping hosts with integrated tool - WHOIS hostnames, IP addresses - Ultrafast asynchronous network I/O DEMO VIDEOS http://j.mp/netstatus_vids MORE GREAT APPS · Spyglass - augmented reality & GPS navigator · Scany - Wi-Fi/LAN network scanner

Reviews of Net Status

  • The App Does Not Work

The app doesn’t meet its purpose as far as M2 Pro Mac Mini is concerned. Regardless of whether I combine my M2 Pro Mac Mini WiFi local IP address with its corresponding MAC address, or its Ethernet local IP address with its corresponding MAC address, my M2 Pro Mac Mini does not wake up from the sleep state. MacOS Ventura 13.2.1 built-in Firewall is turned off, as well as is the FileVault and Lockdown Mode, and I don’t have any third-party antivirus piece of software installed, so, as far as I know, there is nothing that could block the Magic Packet from making through. Not through Net Status, but I have used the Wake-on-LAN function with my previous Windows PC and my current wireless router without an active Firewall before, and so I know that Wake-on-LAN should work. Why it doesn’t work with my MacOS Ventura 13.2.1 M2 Pro Mac Mini, exposed to all incoming connections, I have no idea.
  • Nice app

Nice app. Works as advertised. Would be nice to have support for better alerts, a widget, and nonstandard ports.
  • Not iPad friendly

Not iPad friendly. Only displays in portrait. My iPad keyboard case doesn't function standing up on end. Please fix.
