  • Cool app, much improved!

Suggesting local climbs and hooks into Strava makes this a worthwhile app. The ability to add stories/descriptions make it helpful when route planning.
  • Great fun app which adds to your cycling experience

Really easy to use and great to see what you have in store before a climb. Great to see the result afterwards with the awards given adding to the enjoyment
  • Really useful

Helpful to find the Cols when on holiday.
  • Highly Recommend this Brilliant app

Super helpful, Super easy & intuitive to use.
A brilliant way to make sure you get no nasty surprises on a climb and/or see what you conquered after the event!!
We stumbled upon this app after accidentally taking on a 17% climb on holiday in Belgium.
I’ve had apple products for well over a decade &
This is the 1st review I’ve ever given for an app because I think it is THAT BRILLIANT!!
    Thank you !!!!!!

  • Poor App

To start with the positives, the number of included cols and the way it shows the length and gradient for each is awesome. Unfortunately, there is no mode that lets you browse through the cols in the database. You have to rely on the search function and hoping that the col you are looking for is in the database. Additionally, the database of cols has not been updated since purchasing this app. Also, navigating through this app pulls from your data plan as the col profiles are not downloaded onto the phone. This has the potential to be a great app, but some reconstruction is necessary.

  • Good but needs attention

iCols is a well designed app and has an impressive database of climbs (cols) mostly in Europe. It's a unique resource in that regard. I fear, however, that the app has stagnated, having not been updated since the end of 2009. It is definitely in need of some work in the following areas:

    - Update for iOS4 to take advantage of backgrounding/fast app switching. Currently it just restarts upon return to foreground :(
    - Higher resolution icon and graphics for the iPhone 4 retina display.
    - Integrate with social networks. Would be cool to share cols/routes I'm looking at with Facebook or Twitter.
    - Crowdsourcing! Add a user submitted section so that iCols users can add new climbs to the database via app or website.
    - Offline mode. iCols will simply not function without a network connection. Being able to save climbs for offline use just makes sense.

  • Freeriders

    Save your money.
  • Nice idea but crap implementation

Nice idea idea. But crap implementation... Just 2 hills in Scotland? Really? And I'm supposed to add them myself AND pay for the app?? Oh, and no detail.
  • For Cyclists everywhere

I like this app a lot. Most of the basics are there which mean it works very well. Being able to add pictures of the climb could be a nice addition.

For the real geeky, I include myself in that, it'd be really cool to know how many watts you need to put out to climb @ X speed.

Unsure how you can submit climbs to them but that'd be a useful.
