  • Fun!

This app actually works! My daughter and I are racing to see who can get to the bronze level first. We're picking up the language pretty fast which could do with the language itself but the app is awesomely fun.

I enjoy the different ways each topic is presented - vocabulary review, an easy flash card review, and then one that's a little harder then an even harder memory game. It keeps you in the flow.

There a couple of things that would make it better. There's a level that doesn't show the written word after the solution - It would be nice to read the word. Also have more words - maybe an library add-in.

I'm impressed with this app. Good job!

  • Nice tool but needs more vocabulary, etc.

Pronounciation is clear and the tools are useful. Expand the vocabulary with upcoming uprades and the variety of games (and like angry birds, have the updates be free) and you will have a winning product. Also, crashes reom time to time, so work on the stability. Three stars for now, but will give it a better rating if the above are addressed.

  • Fantastic

With the use of pharases is very useful to be able to get around the city.
  • Pretty Good

I have been studying for a while and thought this would help. It has, but it is much more limited than I had expected. Nothing I couldn't learn free online or from a book. Much less content than I had expected also.
  • Effective but limited

Only a few very basic memory games. But I at least found I learnt most of the phrases they did have fairly quickly and was addicted for a bit. However its usefulness is questionable as Esperanto is not a language one would ever ask for the bill or call an ambulance in. Not really worth the high price unless you just want something to amuse you for a few days. "Speech recording and playback" is deceptive. That just means it has sound clips, not that it will listen to your speech.

  • VERY well done application

I was already learning Esperanto on my own time, but this application makes the perfect companian to my studying. Pull it out anywhere and learn a new word or phrase in a second.
  • Tre bone!!!

  • Excellent app to learn the basics

Very entertaining. I found it really fun to get me started with Esperanto. A lot of work went into this, the sound quality is great, and all words and phrases are spoken by both a male an female. It's designed to immerse you right away into practical use of the language, and it's really fun to use. I do wish there were more words and phrases (200+ words/phrases go by very quickly), but I highly recommend this to anyone who wants to start learning Esperanto. It really makes it a lot easier to learn, and made sure I started on a good solid footing to move on with more serious stuff such as lernu.net (or just great by itself if the only thing you want is the basics). Great job.

  • Overpriced

Ridiculously overpriced for what it is. Very basic.
  • Surprisingly polished

I was a bit wary about purchasing this app, just because of the sheer number of uTalk apps for other languages. From experience of desktop language applications, this usually results in a poorer product. Thankfully that's not the case here. uTalk Esperanto has a brilliantly clean and clever interface, while the games are genuinely fun. The voices are excellent, with both male and female for every word and phrase. I particularly like the ability to record and play back your own voice to compare pronunciation. There is one mistake that I've noticed (voice and picture say "no smoking" whereas the text says "I like to have"), but it's forgivable. The only real downside is the limited number of phrases for the price, and the fact that they're centred around phrasebook situations which isn't as applicable to Esperanto as national languages. However, as the only Esperanto app of its kind the price is somewhat justified... I just wish I could keep learning with this app!
