Paid for this app years ago when it was just starting out on the app store. Always had access to full step-by-step solutions, as detailed in the description for the [then] paid version. Recently updated and got downgraded to basic privileges.
What a slimy thing to do, the developers have no respect for those who helped get them off their feet. Since they replied to another review saying the same thing, let me say this to the devs: I will change my review back to 5 stars if you *choose* to make things right.
If my review is still 1 star while reading this, then steer clear of the subscription and just use the free version — I paid and got downgraded anyways, so you might too. 100% comes back down to greedy devs, do better. I’ll bet my bottom dollar they’ll ignore this review too. So disappointed

The subscription enables new improvements to step-by-step including additional intermediate steps and hints. The subscription also includes access to step-by-step on the web and the Image as Input feature.This should be in the hands of every child. It is amazing to see the diverse data when searching topics in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and math.
As a software architect, I plan to use the Wolfram Alpha API (Application Programmer Interface) and the Notebook API to build an Augmented Reality app.
As a father, I want to build something useful for kids of all ages and grades. The goal will be to help them navigate this data to learn, discover and create.
The in-app purchase to make the input accept images as well as text made me smile from ear to ear. I literally felt like a kid again, building a machine with the add-ons. They are totally worth it!
Even with all the troubles we have in this world, I have not been this excited about the future as was when I saw the power I have in my hands right now.
Good information + Bad Subscription = WolframAlpha
Please value the early adopters who supported WolframAlpha in the beginning by purchasing the app. The switch to a subscription model that limits the information available (i.e., step-by-step problem solving) is a bit disappointing to those who find mathematics interesting and paid to support the app. I used to be excited because app updates used to be upgrades. But like so many others, WolframAlpha has downgraded the app by pushing a subscription. I keep auto-update off all the time now since so many apps get worse each update. 😕
If you don’t mind forking over money each month via a subscription, then WolframAlpha is nice. If you just occasionally like to play with numbers, I can no longer recommend it.

With this app switching to a subscription model, it makes me think, why should I? There are plenty of free options out there and I probably to write my own app that does everything this app use to do without a pesky need for a subscription. This app has become a complete waste of my money and time. 1 star for basic functionality.
WolframAlpha is a product that's a throwback, in a good way, to database searches. As long as the user sticks to keywords, the experience is enjoyable, and direct. There are search examples to learn from. Wolfram isn't going to be like google; but, if you know your keywords, it can be a lot more useful.
I would have gladly given this app 5 stars, like another user mentioned. Back when I bought this app, all features were unlocked with purchase. But the fact that you have to pay for it, then pay for a subscription is not a fair practice in my opinion. I still give it 4 as it’s still really useful overall.
Folks, this is the most advance tool you will ever have access to. The ‘questions’ this app can answer are simple limitless.
As many have pointed out, this is not google.... please grab this, pay the sub. fee and find out how amazing using these devies, and this amazing service, for knowledge can really be fun.
I’ve been using wolfram Alpha online for quite a while now. This app is perfect for me. It lets me use the full capabilities of Wolfram Alpha on my iPad along with step by step solutions at no extra charge. If you don’t want the mobile experience and step by step solutions you can use the web version on Safari for free, but in my opinion the three dollars is definitely worth the price.
Looks like this crackpot hit the jackpot. I’m telling you (and you know who you are) you can keep the propagating these anomalies. There’s definitely data within the background noise. I don’t mean to make anyone jealous, however I just can’t contain myself. Simple rules producing seeming random complexity. All the richness life has to offer.
The app? Yeah, it’s cool, too. Thanks for hanging in there with me on this review.
I would have give this app 5-star a couple months ago. However, I was only able to give it 2 (I originally want to give it 1, but at the mercy that it helped me a lot in the past).
I paid for this app many years ago as it can request longer computation time and show step-by-step solution than the web version. However, this additional feature is curtailed after a recent update, and there is practically little difference of using this app now and the web version (maybe the UI is a little bit cleaner and user friendly, but remember this is a paid app, and now you have to pay for the subscription to use those features as you do with the web version).
If this app is not for free, PLEASE DON’T BUY IT !!! Use the web version and it doesn’t cost you anything, your one-time payment makes no difference. If this is app is free, I would wish them to refund my money back, and I will probably give it a 4-star.

What did I pay you guys for the first time? How can you take my money and then take away the product that I paid for. This should be illegal.
If you buy a pair of shoes and then Nike makes a subscription service they dont take the shoes away that you already paid for. This is absolutely ridiculous and I will never trust this company or their products every again. DO NOT SUBSCRIBE!!!
