Perfect tool for any skill level
I am a native English speaker who speaks Spanish well, but not often. For the speaker whose grammar is good, but who needs an active vocabulary of the words you commonly use in English, Linguee is the perfect tool. It’s a very comprehensive translation engine for anyone seeking the context and subtlety that matches the way you normally speak English, without having to flounder around in a static vocabulary dictionary. The beauty is that there are scores of snippets of published speech, so you can easily and quickly choose the translation that most closely matches the closes sense of meaning you intend. I have searched quite a bit, and have yet to find a better product for learning, and for keeping my vocabulary growing. It really works well.

I don’t know why I can’t get the offline dictionary downloaded
This app is fantastic, but there is a problem for me to download the offline dictionary, please let me know how. Since when I click on the download button, the time bar is not working… Please reply to this review. Thanks in advance!
Constantly freezing
The app is really good — when it works. Unfortunately, it’s constantly freezing when I go back to it after using another app, or even just bringing up the app overview. This is a huge pain if I’m trying to look up several words in a single message, for example, as Linguee will freeze for several seconds, and it takes longer and longer every time I unfocus and refocus it, until it eventually freezes for long enough that I have to force-quit it. This makes it unusable for my purposes and I need to find a new dictionary app…

Awesome!
I use it for English to German translations. I can enter a word or two and the app provides a number of choices. Additionally, there are English sentences which are translated into German so that I can find the word being used in various circumstances. This is so helpful in finding the correct useage!
It’s very handy when reading online. I don’t have to find my dictionary or open another website-just go to the app and check.
An additional useful feature is the back arrow. It allows you to revisit the translations of words you recently looked up so that you can reinforce your memory.
And yet another feature is pronunciation. You can press the button and the pronunciation will be supplied. It’s a wonderful app!

Incredibly useful
I speak German with my kids and parents-in-law. Linguee is the most important language resource I have ever found. It provides more subtlety and nuance than any static dictionary.
Saved me buying two dictionaries.
This app is incredible! As someone studying two languages, it is great not to need multiple dictionary apps on my phone. Furthermore, the examples and contextual reading is amazing! Truly invaluable for getting a grasp on how a word is used in the real world, especially for words that may not have any direct translation and instead serve a grammatical purpose!

Brilliant!
Quite simply, Linguee has become my ‘go to’ reference supporting my French studies at Alliance Français. I love the multiple examples -in context - for each word or phrase that I am researching. It’s so good & so interesting that I have to stop myself browsing!
Indispensable
I came across this app in the process of preparing a translation of a piece of technical German. It has afforded me a high degree of confidence that I have accurately rendered the sense and meaning the language. Even though it has occasionally glitched and frozen, so I have had to restart it, I would recommend this app to anyone who wants both a dictionary and multiple examples of the language in original contexts. Good dictionary, poor technology
The dictionary is good. It puts words into sentences so when a word has several meanings you are more likely to choose the right one.
It also provides unreviewed examples taken from the net which are interesting but have to be used with caution: if someone has misused a word it will still be shown.
But since the latest ios upgrade the dictionary slows down, hangs then crashes. That makes it irritating to use. If they could fix that then five stars.

So very helpful!
Linguee is great. I use it all the time for my French, and have downloaded the offline dictionary. Even without internet connection you are provided with one or two sentences in which you can see the contextual use of whichever word you’ve looked up, and when online you are provided with endless more. The layout is also very professional and attractive to read. Top quality for sure!
