  • A real work horse

This has to be the best free App ever. As an operator of a municapal sewage system, iGIS bring all of my office info out into the feild where its needed most. It is simply to operate once shape files are loaded and gives you the ability to edit data. All and all this would be a vaule at hundereds of dollars like the rest of my GIS software costs, yet its free!!!

  • Good for free

For on the field, this app is great. Its not only free but if your working in vector model this is more then adequate. I've tried most of the gis apps in the app store and this is by far the most user friendly and it's free - GIS Student
  • Very good app for project work in the field.

    Pros:
    - Free!
    - Able to import shapefiles (points, polygons, etc), reads attributes well.
    - Streams Google satellite imagery and able to set alpha of layers
    - Cool way to choose a "cover" image for your project
    - Good performance
    - Excellent support of projections and coordinate systems
    - Works well with iTunes for importing/exporting custom data. Good instructions.

    Cons:
    - Easy to forget you are in "Identify" features mode when you mean to pan the map. Would also be nice if user could customize the size of the selection rectangle for "Identify" features mode.
    - Raster images are compressed too much by the 3rd party maptiler software which is necessary to create compatible tiles. Would prefer if it could also handle KMZ files containing custom raster maps. The help file has decent instructions for using maptiler.
    - Sometimes you have to press "Done" and re-enter the project for your custom raster maps to display despite enabling the layer's visibility.
    - Occassional crashes when loading imagery/data but generally stable.
    - Have to use (go to project info. screen and change "Editing Layer") an imported points layer containing points when adding waypoints in the field otherwise it gives an error, something about next feature ID not existing...

    Well done The Geometry Team!

  • GIS Mapper

This would be much more useful if it were able to read ESRI .prj files. Manually selecting your projection is not always user friendly and it is cumbersome.
Also, it would be much appreciated if it had Alaska state plane in feet like so many other states.
It is a rare app. I like the ability to read and write shapefiles. Especially the ability to store them local.

  • Fabulous !

A simple and very useful app. I'd pay good money for this but it's actually free, for now.
  • wish it would work

Have come back to this app after giving up on it due to it crashing. This version is worse than ever. Crashes constantly when editing. Wish it would work! In the past they have been good at responding. Lets hope they do now too and fix it finally.
  • Exceptionally good

Stunning application, both sophisticated and powerful and yet comparatively simple to use. Once you've figured out what the various menus do, it works brilliantly. It has revolutionised my field mapping - the kind of thing I've been waiting for for ages - thanks very, very much iGIS!
  • Awesome.

This app is amazing, and it's free! I don't know of any other free app that allows creation, import and export of any sort if data. Once you figure out the interface, it's pretty easy to use too.
  • Excellent app

This is great, really useful and easy to use. I've had a bit of trouble uploading files but mostly due to problems on my end, associated with conversions from MapInfo .tab files. Native support for .tab files would be great!
  • Best Field GIS that I have found.

first off...the ability to add spatial data to the device is huge. not being dependant upon wifi or 3g connectivity makes data collection in rural areas possible. project set-up is much more intuitive and quicker than any of the ArcMobile products (including their iOS application). While there are some features still lacking, field data collection is not possible without project se-up being too taxing on my limited time.
