pinochle game - great pastime

Due to a tomorrow curvature in my back and spine, coupled with arthritis-I have many days where movement of lowers limbs is too painful and I’ m flat on my back sometimes 3-4 days per week Sometimes tv watching gets boring. I pull out My iPad or iPhone and have a great time playing double pinochle it’s a great way to past the afternoons by testing my card playing skills I have become so great in pinochle it’s helped me be a better pinochle partner in live, real games. Concentration and skill . Great game, been playing about 5 years now.

I love this game!

This is the best card game there is and it has helped me improve my playing skills. Absolutely love it!

My partner isn’t very good

When I get the bid, my partner keeps giving me 9s.

Unrealistic

Been playing this game for several years now, and I just get more and more frustrated with how unrealistic the meld is, and how slanted it is toward the opponents. Very often, the opponents get large meld hands that allow them to make large point hands and come back from behind a win them game. Also, while playing in the last few weeks the opponents have had double pinochle 4 times, and my partner 1 time. I’ve been playing pinochle with my in-laws for a few decades and have only seen double pinochle 2 times. The algorithms on this game are unrealistic, favor the opponents, and are making the game less fun to play.

I wish

I wish this program gave higher priority to pinochle. The opponents always get double pinochles and my partner often neglects to send me a leg, sending aces instead. Also my partner will frequently have a cold family and not bid. My partner bids less than any of the other hands. I don’t get it. The partner always ends up giving away tens. I hardly ever do that. It’s a good program in place quite well other than that.

Cheats and is Rigged

I play on the most difficult level. It’s embarrassing how frequently my opponents get pinochle and I don’t. The one who wins the bid at 460 might get 20-40 points, but their partner gets 380 and hits pinochle. I’ve never in last 300 times of playing this app and NEVER have I won the bid, passed to my partner and he hit pinochle even when I’ve passed 3 legs. Another issue is your partner will NOT pass an ace of trump if it messes up their 100 aces. Not kidding!!!!! It’s cost me shooting the moon more than once. The developers are uncaring. I mentioned this issue and others with no response. Not empresses with them. It’s a fun game with a cheating AI and a developer who doesn’t care to correct this. Enjoy, but realize, you’ll never win as much as you would of you played in real life. This game cheats.

Bill Solomon

Fun game, well developed. However there are a number of tactical moves that the app makes when it should not for the most obvious reasons. For example my partner bids when it’s clear that even a successful bid will not overcome a winning hand by the opposition given the close score. I have written this and other comments in the past and suggested that the software be modified to be more intelligent and making those tactical decisions, but they have not changed. Too bad because otherwise this game would be close to high-level play

AI broken in latest update

The latest update seems to be a little broken. Bidding is very strange. I often see the robots passing when they should be bidding, like having double pinochle or double marriage.

The AI often doesn’t recommend me to bid because it doesn’t recognize the meld value of double marriage in trump.

The play seems strange on the latest update as well. When a robot hand will play 3 aces in one suit before playing an ace in another suit.

Good but idiot computer players

Update review: good app to learn with. But not like playing in real life. You never know how partner will play out counters. I personally don’t like the “balance out of loser cards”. Partner should get rid of individual counters rather than balance out the counters. If you know you know what I mean, if you haven’t played this app you will understand after playing for awhile.
Would be nice to just toss cards in when anyone had remaining tricks.
That is all for now on second review.
Sept 2022.

I really like this app, but the computer players are idiots more than half the time. I will not explain you will find out. It is very good for practicing the game and hone skills. But just idiots on the computer side. Would like to possibly have the ability to coach North partner and put names to players. Just my thoughts on improvements.

Aces

The opposing team always seem to get a ton of meld usually enough to only have to pull a few tricks or none. Even when they get stuck with the bid and have no meld they still manage to win the hand. I’ve been counting how many aces they get between them and more often than not they get 6 or more. Plus my partner leaves me stuck when they clearly could have taken the bid. Sometime I replay the hand and choose the suit they have the most of and then we win the hand.

Despite the above I have manage to win a few games. And occasionally manage to get good hands but not nearly the same as the other team.
