Cracked is awesome; the app is not!
To start, I love Cracked, have been reading for over 6 years now (it's really been a good way to keep informed and has helped me understand a few concepts that no one else has been able to. I even listen the every episode of the podcast when they're available. However, I have a couple issues with this app.
First up (a problem I've had for awhile) is the fact that your photoplasties do not appear to support GIFs. I end up having to go to my browser to view the ones that contain them. Not that I have a problem doing so, but it defeats the purpose of having the app if I have to go to the browser to get the intent of some parts. Other apps on my phone can do this, I think you can, too.
Second, the ads. I keep getting redirected to the App Store for ads. I don't mind ads, but keep them where I'm already viewing. I end up having to completely close the App Store and cracked and start over at the beginning, sometimes more than once for the same article.
Those two small fixes would make you five stars in my book.Show lessSgtleroy
Do not pay money for this app
I bought this app years ago and have had no real problems with it until the last year or so. SO MANY ADS! There are so many ads that they crash the app they are advertising on. There are so many ads, I'm having flashbacks to early 2000's porn sites where I end up jacking it to the ads just because it's impossible to reach the content. There are so many ads that when you are eventually able to read your article, you aren't sure if you are reading an app for the app you are using. The developers just don't care! This problem has been reported multiple times in the comments and I'm sure in emails to support and, like my absentee father, it seems that their solution is to go out to buy some cigs and never come back. Great website, terrible app
The articles from Cracked are excellent, and I strongly recommend them. However, I cannot recommend this app as a means to read them. Periodically this app will either close out to go to the App Store or pop up with full screen ads. This would be fine if there were a paid version of the app, and this were a lite version. Sadly, I bought this years ago as the paid version, on the assumption that the money would get me an improved app and no ads. Ironically, this version has less features than the old, and more annoying ads. Finally, it cannot load gifs in photoplasty's, which makes several completely unreadable. Don't get this app if you have other means of reading Cracked.
EDIT: Still awful, and the ads have gotten worse. Just recently I had the all redirect me to the App Store ten times in a row before I just gave up.Show lessjcrashsharrow
