Used to be great.
Bad user experience now. Popups like “login” or adds detract from reading news. Some articles impose a new scroll dynamic, where there is higher resistance/dampening and the scroll slows down to a halt much faster. If all of iOS scrolls at the same speed, we get used to it. This app should not feel like it has the right to scroll differently. All of these add to experiences that make you realize you don’t like the app instead of integrating the user seamlessly to the app’s content. I’ve tried it again after uninstalling it a year ago after the layout changes, popups, and scrolling irked me and it’s still the same. Be predictable and let us interface with your content. Stop imposing your own way to use our devices that’s different from the other 99% of the time we use our devices. You used to be able to open the app, tap a news article, swipe left or right to go to different articles, and be done. Now it’s open app, decline to log in, pick an article, close the ad, wait for the page to shift around as a webpage is opened within the app and styling changes, now you can scroll, now you recognize it scrolls weird…and now I’m ranting. This used to be my only news app and now have to move to others, and I still haven’t found a better one than what this was a few years ago. :(

Intrusive advertising
I get that the app is funded by advertising outside the UK.
If there was a way to pay for the advertising to go away, I would consider it.
Advertisements embedded in the news stories interrupt other audio playing while I am READING the news.
Either stop using advertising media which interrupts other media already playing or offer a means to pay to stop advertising in the app.

Terrible Update
Latest update ruins the app. The new format makes it harder to read and only shows the very top stories on main page. I used to at least browse headlines from all major regions/categories and click through a few articles a couple of times a day but now I don’t even open the app every day because the experience is so much worse. The developers really need to put the major categories back on the main screen or at least enable sideways swiping though categories instead of forcing a bunch of clicks to browse. Everything just loads and looks like a webpage instead of an app… if that’s what I wanted I’d go to the webpage. I hope the changes are reverted or I’ll have to find a new news source with a better app.

What happened to the swipe!?
I’ve used this app and enjoyed it for years, just can’t understand why they’ve delete the ability to swipe back to the main page or section. This update makes navigating annoyingly harder where you have to scroll back to the top of the article and hit the back button or swipe down from the top?? Can’t see the reason to remove the standard back function. Might sound trivial but geez it’s annoying!

New app is terrible
I loved the old app, using it on my iPads, 6th and 9th generation, for news world wide. However the newly revamped app is very frustrating. I have trouble scrolling and when I’m trying to scroll, the app thinks I’m clicking on something and when I try to get back, the back or close buttons don’t work well, and I have to tap them over and over to get back to where I was. Today the app froze and I had to reboot the iPad. This makes it time consuming to get my news and I might try the website, which is less convenient, but hopefully it will be a less aggravating experience.

Terrible upgrade
I love BBC content, but I really get frustrated with the update. Pictures cannot be maximize, text is not allowed to be selected and be looked up as before. What a disaster of upgrade ! Go back to the previous version!
Changes to BBC App
The changes made to the BBC app have made me use it way less than before. The ongoing ask to register is the first barrier to how frequently I access news from the app, and the new look is less appealing and user friendly with. I’ve started using other news apps more 🤷🏼♀️
A good app spoilt
The latest iteration of the app has become an unintuitive, seemingly non customisable vehicle for intrusive ads.
In many cases, having dug through multiple irrelevant pages you are then linked to the main site in your browser for the info/story you are actually looking for, defeating the purpose of having the app in the first place.
As always, the content is top notch but the institution has really been let down by whoever developed this latest iteration of the app.

New update red to black logo
Can we give 0 stars? Your update ruined the whole experience. How was this approved? Used to be seamless and easy to navigate. Now bulky and less appealing. And always asking to sign in or create an account everytime you open the app? A bit excessive and agressive. Can I revert back to older app?
