Below is my original review of version 1.2 of this app. Back then, the app supported both English and French and it was great. Unfortunately, English was subsequently dropped from the app and it is now in French only! So warning - if you can't read French, this app is now completely useless.
It's a shame because, as you can see below, I really liked this app back in the early days of the iPad. The developers seem to have fixed the issue with the keyboard not working in landscape too, although as expected it does now cover up a lot of the screen. But it still works and if you use an external keyboard, that would be fine. If English was added back to the app, I'd say it would be a 5 star app once more.
ORIGINAL REVIEW - 5 Stars
I like this game. It is simple to use and works well. Plus it gives your brain some exercise.
One tricky thing is that you can only play the game with the iPad in portrait orientation. If the iPad is in landscape orientation, the display shrinks to show a preview of the entire board and you can't actually enter any letters. It makes sense to have this restriction, because the keyboard would take up too much space in landscape - but it takes some getting used to.
The app includes 9 free puzzles, with new puzzles available via in-app purchasing. The prices seem reasonable.
Being able to reveal a single letter (or an entire word) when you're stuck is a good feature, as is incorrect letters showing up in grey instead of black (if desired). Letters can be entered for a whole word in sequence or can be entered one or several letters at a time.
There are Easy, Medium and Hard difficulty levels, and they are all reasonably challenging.
REMINDER - This app is now in French language only!
