Exactly what I needed!
I'm just about to teach a topic on videogames and wanted an app that children could use to create simple animated sprites.
This app is perfect and very easy to use. It offers loads of features and export options. Can't wait to use it in the classroom.Wozburger
Great app, but has some big problems.
This app is great as a spriting tool; it's flexible and has lots of extremely useful features. I would rate it five stars if it weren't for three problems. 1) Sprites are nearly impossible to delete. When you think you've deleted a sprite, it pops up again after a while. 2) It crashes on older devices (I'm using a 4th gen iPod touch and get lots of crashing). 3) Recently, it hasn't been saving sprites. If I go to create a new sprite with the same name, it tells me that there is already a sprite with that name.Show lessPlecofish
Most capable, most features
A few bugs and minor performance issues don't diminish the value of this terrific pixel art app.
If you are looking for a solid 'retro' game art tool for the iPad, save yourself the time, storage space and—in some cases—money and download this app.
No other pixel art app combines the color palette capabilities, including indices and adjustable HSL/RGB, essential draw tools, such as line and shape, along with exporting and development features that save you time and streamline the workflow.
It's obvious the developer created a tool inspired by his own experiences with the game design process, because unlike some similar apps, he incorporated the small things that are the difference between frustrating corrections and one-and-done: image stamping with flip and rotate, animate frames, exporting both sheet image and frames, tile mapping, etc.
I've tried other pixel art apps and none meet, much less exceed, the features and overall performance.
The only issues are an idiosyncratic interface for zooming; it doesn't always read the touches correctly and results in the current tool being applied instead; and the app will freeze/lag on occasion sometimes resulting in a very weird (but only affecting display) distortion of the image.
Nonetheless, these are correctable and not a reason to use inferior pixel art apps.

Works, but not intuitive.
The interface needs a serious overhaul. I'd like to be able to easily adjust the size of the drawing area. The tool tab is directly beneath the 'docs' button, causing me to continually exit my work, if I slightly tap too high. As it is, this app is very frustrating to use. Its features however all work well on their own and I haven't suffered from any crashes. Lots of potential here though. I would suggest if you require a professional pixel art app, that you wait until they improve it.Show lessSnow-is-me

This is by far the best spriting and animation app around. The UI is very well thought out.
Just one thing lacking, layers. Also, rotation would be very good if it could process finer angles between each 45 deg angle. But layers, really need that pleeeaaase. Pretty pleeeease :-)Genie77
Great app!
This app is so helpful if you are wanting to make pixel art or pixel animation! I have found it so much easier to use this app. A lot quicker than any other programs on the App Store or my computer.
The only thing that would improve is some sort of gallery so people can share work.Dinosharc
Promising but buggy
This app looks fantastic and could easily be 5 stars but suffers from bugs.
The file manager claimed to be importing files from iTunes although I'm not sure how. Sometimes renaming doesn't seem to work.
The editor however is fantastic.an.mo
