Simple but effective
Seems accurate and authentic. Works without an Internet connection. Includes some illustrated entries and for some reason recordings of birdsong. My only complaint is I would have liked pronunciation help, but this is a minor issue.

very useful
Comprehensive but slow
I bought this app mainly so that I could translate place names and Maori words on the fly, much as you would with a paper dictionary. As the developers say, for earlier generation iPod Touches, it is slow - too slow, really, to be useful. To search a database for a simple word can take 20-30 seconds.
I would suggest the developers redesign the results page so that the app rapidly presents the most likely couple of meanings, and then has options to explore idiom, quotations and suggest context. To do all this every time is unnecessary and slows the app down. As it is, it would be far quicker to use a real dictionary.

Quality resource.
This is an excellent app. It saves me bringing up a Maori/English dictionary on the net. Te Whanake learning resources which are accessible via this app are pretty awesome too. Congrats to the developers of this app and Te Whanake website.
