3rd Game I've had for years now held for ransom
Along with Space Miner and Aralon, these pirates are swallowing up classic favorites and forcing us to pay $4.99 a month to play games we bought and paid for years ago.
(The rest of this is repeated on my reviews of the aforementioned kidnapped games)
Some folks got together and bought up a bunch of games and have locked them behind a monthly subscription plan. They say they'll let you continue playing free if you paid for it before. But they are either lying or are incompetent. They require an email to verify you bought the game, but then say the email is invalid (every app I've purchased since 2008 has been under the same email).
They then tell me I can provide my UserID, from within the game that I can't access.
Finally, they tell me to download any of their games, and they'll not only unlock it for free, but then use that game info to unlock this one for me. But guess what? I have to subscribe to get the new game first.
Every path leads to a monthly subscription.
Taking away what I have already paid for and demanding $4.99 a month to unlock it sounds more like a protection racket or extortion to me.
Guess I'll just have to remember what this game was like since I can't play it anymore.
Response from developer
The next update of all of our games should have a fix for the bug that requires email addresses for legacy updaters โ we truly want to make sure that every person that bought the game in the past can keep it for free. (Apologies for repetition, we do need to respond to every review though the message will be similar.) We all are huge fans of all of these games and want to treat the games, the devs, and their fans with the respect they deserve. We have worked closely with the devs and done the updates ourselves, in-house for each one of them to make sure they work on modern devices. This bug is one that we take super seriously and are rolling out updates for every single app so that this issue is cleared up. I've continued our ongoing support email conversation with some clarifications and additional workarounds, though as I said the next update should take care of the issue.
NOT FREE, FULL OF LIES
Response from developer
Everyone who bought any of our games previously should continue to have full access to the game without starting a subscription. However, in some cases it is no longer possible to detect a previous purchase. If you once purchased this game on the App Store, please write us at support@gameclub.io to get it straightened out.
Thanks GameClub!
