I like the concept, but...

As many others have stated, you have to have this app running while eating for it to function properly. Unless I'm sitting at my kitchen table alone, I'm not inclined to be tapping at my phone during each meal. If you switch to another app and back, it won't record your meal properly. I love the concept, however, and have found another app that is billed as simply as tally counter and lets me count down from a set number. That way, I can just subtract my bites at the end of each meal and have a running total for what's left for the day. No cool graphs, but much more functional.

Good concept, poor execution

It's a good idea, and is good for helping you eat more conciously. But given that the app really only has to do one simple thing, count how many times you press the button, it really is executed poorly.
There is a major bug, that if you switch to another app, or take a call, when you return to the app you'll find it created a second instance of the bite entry form. You won't realize it until you hit 'done' and find that there is another form under the one you just closed meaning that you have to double count your bites.

Great tool!

I had no idea how much I was actually eating until I started using this app. It was definitely a wake-up call. It primarily helps me stay on track with portion control, but also keeps me chewing more slowly (I tend to rush through meals). Great little tool to have around!

Love this app

Would give 5 stars if I could manually add a number. When in a restaurant I keep track of bites and it would be convenient to just add the number rather than 1 bite at a time. If your bites are mostly of healthy food, great way to apply portion control. Thank you for this app.

Great idea, app needs work

This is a simple idea that I have found to be helpful. The app is buggy however. Sometimes the number of bites jumps, and there is no way to edit the data to make corrections. It would be nice if it had an option to see bites by meal, not just daily totals. There should be a way to enter information after the fact; for instance, I sometimes track bites with my watch when eating out (it's unobtrusive) and enter the info later, often the next day. This could have a lot more options that would make it more functional.

Good concept, would like graphics update

Very simple and straightforward app. Provides for a more tangible way to portion control. I saw one review that stated it was like a pedometer for your mouth...I agree!

However, I gave it 4 stars because it would be nice if they updated the graphics for the iPhone 4 display. Graphics are rather pixelated. In addition, like another reviewer said, it would also be nice to also have it display bites per meal/snack. However, those are rather minor issues that would just make it a 5-star app rather than 4. I'm glad they have this app out there! :-)

I really like this app-- it helps you to become conscious of your consumption. I also love the chart function so you can review your progress. BUT I have found it can be unstable especially when switching between functions and it has crashed many times forcing me to reboot the phone. Once you fill up the entire time line, it becomes even more unstable. Update, please!

This app really makes it easy to get control of your eating habits it is surprising to find out that we don't need to eat much to feel satisfied. In the month that I started the closest I have gotten to 80 is 73 bites one time. I usually average 50 to 60 bites and do not feel deprived. Super easy and effective!!!

Great app! Changing my life!

I started using 80 Bites two weeks ago (the day it came out) and I've noticed a tremendous change already. I eat more slowly, really savor each bite, don't snack as much, and really look forward to meals. I haven't had to change the foods I eat, I'm just a lot more conscious about eating healthy portions (instead of what ads and restaurants tell me is a portion). It's retraining my eyes and my appetite, plus it's fun and easy to use.

Great App!

I think this app has the potential to change the way people diet. Of course it's all about how much we eat! We tend to eat too much of course. This app is helping me count bites instead of calories, a much easier approach! The app (and the concept) is so easy I can't believe this solution didn't come around a long time ago! Now, I have to try it for a few weeks to see if I start to see results, but I'm sure I will.
