4 apps becomes 1! Nine years ago, we launched the Machining Calculator app, followed by three more advanced calculators the following years. A lot of things have happened within machining processes and app development since then and it is time to retire the old apps and continue our digital journey with one new and modern Machining calculator. The new Machining calculator includes most parts of the four previous apps, all in one, and more to come!

Reviews of Machining Calculator

  • A lot of information in easy to use app

I have been using this app for about a year. I use it relating to training I do with machinists and machine operators. It is one of the simplest for people to understand while having enough information to do quality comparisons of cutting conditions.
    Examples,
MRR - metal removal rates calculation (helps qualify if a new machining approach will actually save you time before experimenting)
HP - horsepower calculations, allows you to know roughly what power you need to pull a certain tool. Very handy when working with light duty low HP machines. (this part does require using a Chart Sandvik has on their site for material hardness (specific cutting force “kc”)
Chip Thickness - quickly calculates adjusted chip load for milling cutters weather having an angled insert (face mill) or taking a light side cut.

All needed data is easily input in this app.
  • Not useful to the noob

Was looking for a replacement to my old Sandvik slide calculator, but the app requires me to know way too much, which I don't. If I did, why would I need this?
  • Bring back the previous version

I've been using this for 3 years. It's been very helpful for me.
The previous version is faster and much easier to use compare to this newer version.
The selection box is too small and make it very hard for the user.
Since my work required me to deal with metric system. It will not change permanently though you have change into metric. I personally think that Sandvik should really consider to improve this.
