Too Easy
I downloaded this because it seemed to be the only version with Arabic numerals on the tiles. Unfortunately, that is its best feature. Tiles are too small and hard to see. Difficulty is not adjustable, so everyone is playing for 0-point hands. The game alerts you whenever you have the option to take a tile, so there is no motivation to pay attention to the game. Might be good for beginners, but experienced players will be bored.

Love this!
This game is great - proper mahjong not tile matching.
Great play! Would love to have a score board for tracking over different games to see if i'm improving and also be able to personalise my player's name. These comments don't detract from current play.

Great game but the scoring doesn't make sense.
First off, I'm Chinese and have been playing mahjong for the better part of 20 years. Ive never come across this scoring system. It's unlike anything I've ever seen before - doesn't make any sense that I win the hand yet another player earns more money / points than I do. In fact I could loose money even though I win.
Completely ridiculous.
That being said the game play is good. I concur with the other reviewer about the toes being too small and sometimes throwing out the wrong tile. But other than those two annoying things it's a decent app. I likely won't play again unless there's a scoring update. Or at least the ability to pick between different scoring systems.

Coming along nicely...
I've played this for years on the Mac, and was thrilled to see it for the iPad. The graphics are beautiful, and for the most part play is smooth. There are, however, a few things that would make this a better playing experience. For one thing, it would be nice to be able to replace the generic "Player" with the player's actual name. It would be nice to see the stats for rounds and matches, with percentages so you could keep track if you wanted. And an Undo button so you could take back an accidentally discarded tile would be great!

Almost Playable..
I love the game of real mahjong and this version is almost playable with exception of some really really frustrating game play.
1. I am frequently tossing out the wrong card due to the tiles being so small and for some reason the game would grab the tile beside the one that you actually want as you drag it out to toss. Your finger is covering the complete tile so you don't know you have the wrong tile until you release it.
2. There are no adjustment levels so most games ends up being a mixture of pungs and chows (chicken feed value). Thus it is a race of creating high value hands against the computer who has no stratedgy at all except to eat as quickly as possible.
3. the buttons that prompts you are not accurate so you end up chow or pung even though you pressed no thank you. I've almost thrown out my iPad in frustration when this happens.
4. of course pung pre-empts chow but I wish that instead of asking you if you want to chow then get pung after you made a selection. If the other players need to pung, dont ask me if I want the card.
5. locked in portrait mode since the layout is locked in the way they designed it.

Not worth it YET
The graphics are great, however..... It does not always recognize when a tile is beneficial to your hand and with no way to initiate a pung on your own....it has become quite frustrating to even bother playing. I payed too much to simply delete it, but until there is an update, I won't be playing it. It's not worth the frustration! PLEASE fix! This could be a 5 star AP with a few adjustments!

So much to like!
Beautiful graphics, excellent documentation, fun gameplay. This is by far the best iOS mahjong game out there. Still needs a few things to make it great:
- Undo for those times you flick away the wrong tile.
- Full details of the score for each round for each player.
- As others have said, the ability to claim tiles without automatically being prompted.
- Bigger, easier to read tiles.
- Auto-arrange tiles in your hand, or allow them to be arranged when it's not your turn.
But all in all, can't wait to see how this app develops! I've been chomping at the bit for good iOS mahjong. Even with it's weaknesses, this app offers really fun play.

Best Mahjong app for iPad so far
Those who are after the four player mahjong game should look at this version. Easily slickest and most glitch free one for now. Classic (Beijing?) rules, would love to have the option of other rules (eg Singapore) and multiplayer.
Crashes right away !!!
Just purchased this game. After installation, I clicked on the app, and after showing me the intro page in 3 seconds, it crashes! I tried to restart my iPad, hoping this would fix it, but to no avail ! I WANT MY MONEY BACK !!!
Needs a bit of tweaking
The pop-ups for pung and chow take all the decision making out of the game. Interface a nice. Computer players voices are all the same and the voice is like speaking to a machine. Needs options for minimum points to win. Otherwise it's chicken hands all the way... If a player who is used to playing real mahjongg, this app may not be rite for them.
