This guide has been an incredible help in Oriental, African, Northern European, and Farmer's markets. It shows you what that item you've been looking for, for years, looks like (in my case, Kaffir Lime leaves) and it identifies that never-before-seen item (Rambutan? Green (raw) Chickpeas) in seconds.
It's a wonder how well it works. Great pictures, history, availability, the best way to check ripeness, and links to recipes across the better food blogs.
The company that created (and, updates frequently) this gem is really in the Produce business! It shows. Their product info page gives direct contact info. What more can one ask (well, Reed and Bacon Avocados in season - but, I found out about those two gems through this app after seeing them at the Farmer's Market)?Show lessgrolaw

Brilliant app for product reference, especially for me as I work on a fresh produce department with speciality fruit/veg coming in from all over the world.

This app has gotten worse with each new update
Unsure of what the developer is doing to this app but it has slowed down, frozen or just completely unresponsive with each new update. Over a year ago I contacted then about the possibility of having all the photo's attached to each discription so I know what im looking for when I'm out, they informed me it was something they where working on but nothing as of yet. I think its time to go source a second app.

Great Food Reference . . .
I love using this app. When I see an item in a recipe that I don't know about . . . I can almost always find it listed here. My only suggestion for improvement would be that with the next upgrade if possible . . . could they include info about how to store items and what kind of shelf life would be good for each.Show lessMyPodLover
Specialty Produce is an excellent food app
I've been using Specialty Produce's app for a couple months now and am amazed at how helpful it is. I work as an exec. chef and run a food blog, this app helps me keep up with what's in season and also provides interesting facts about the produce and even provides some quality recipes.
