  • Needs Improvement but is okay

Machado is a knowledgeable and accomplished instructor that certainly knows and explains the subject well. This app is essentially an e-book. The app has several glitches: the text often goes blurry and the only way I've found to fix it is to restart my iPad. Sometimes the hi-lighter function malfunctions. Overall this app version is much better than the printed text, lugging around a bunch of aviation books everywhere you go is no fun. I often switch between this book and his "how to fly an airplane" book. Although it has a few bugs, I recommend buying this app over the printed version.

  • It’s Good But...

I have enjoyed reading this book so far as I’m just starting out on my Private license. It’s full of good information. There’s only one thing I wish I could do with this and that is the ability to highlight certain passages that I want to remember and to mark pages like you can with a “real” e-book. I know this is just an “app” but I wish it was made more like a book. That would enable me to keep all my notes and such in one place. Other than that, it’s great.

  • Exceptional book made even better

Most of the private pilot training material is hard to stay with because it is just so boring that it is hard to stay focused on. Rod's book is the rare exception that can make a dreadfully boring subject fun to read. Yeah, his jokes are a bit corny but this is a g rated subject right. But it keeps it lively and interesting none the less. Two thumbs up and while you are at it get the workbook too. It is a worthy compliment. I just wish the audio version was in iTunes. Right now it is separate but it too is a great compliment. Reading the material then listening to the material and finally working through the questions in the workbook almost guarantees retention.
