I bought this app to see if using it would help me to remember dreams better. I wasn't going for lucid dreaming, just a little improvement in recall. I looked at the reviews for the iPhone version and they were generally positive. I thought that the app was a bit pricey; it does one thing only, and the graphics are only so-so.
I started to use it, and an ad for one of the hypnotist's other apps flashed at the top of the screen, looking like a piece of garbage floating in the "flowing stream" graphic. I had read in one of the iPhone version reviews that one could hide the ads, and I did so by pushing the "hide" button. But of course every time that I altered the controls, or (having drifted off a bit) renewed the screen, there were the ads again. and each time, despite the app's instructions to relax, I got a little more tense and frustrated.
After all, if someone is so greedy and determined to advertise that he places ads on apps well above the minimum price, what else is he doing in the app? If it's a hypnosis app, you do start to wonder!
At any rate, I did eventually get to sleep, had tense dreams about people spending money on foolish things and regretting it, and recalled my dreams maybe a little less than usual.
The app recommends that you listen to it nightly for at least 21 days, but I couldn't see myself doing that with the ads as is. I did email the developer and got a prompt and polite response to my fairly grouchy email, but they said that hiding the ads temporarily was my only option: "we like everyone to have the option of benefiting from multiple programs..." (other apps do that is the app store, guys-- or maybe _at most_ with an unobtrusive button at the base of the screen or in the settings category).
I say: I'm not benefitting from this program. If it really were a worthwhile or effective app, they wouldn't need to aggressively advertise the others.
I'm avoiding this one!
