8mm Vintage Camera User Reviews

What was once a great app has been spoiled by the greed of the developers.

I paid money for this app a good few years ago. Now my purchase is meaningless since they’ve changed it to a subscription only app. I wish I could use stronger language to describe my feelings towards the developers. I hope nobody subscribes to your app.

Scam

Un pur scam. Acheté il y a plusieurs années, demande de payer à nouveau. Ne peut restaurer l’achat. Pratiques malsaines et avares.

Doesn’t work.

Doesn’t allow exporting or rendering - so basically useless. An attempt at exporting gives the error message “the requested URL was not found on this server” whatever that means.

Does not recognize old purchase

I purchased this Ap when it first came out years ago. I had not used it in a few years but when I did all my videos were gone and when I click on restore purchase nothing happens.

Cant add music to video

Cant add music to video’s. It says you can but the files are locked with no way to unlock them

Great, but…

I loved this app. But I kept the new (briefly released as 8mm II) and old version separate, because the old one was so awesome, and I wasn’t sure about the new one. Yes, the new version is great to be able to adjust settings, but it really lost that vibe that made it great. And then, Apple updated my old installed app with the new version when I upgraded to iOS 17. Not happy about that at all. Why the old version wasn’t left as a legacy option is beyond me. ————————————————————— UPDATE: I shot some family footage while out a couple days ago with the original app and my fave simulation (Tuscan). Man, it beautifully captured the light, colour, and feel of the day. Absolutely my go-to for gorgeous 8mm effects. The new app (I am one of the few who have both the 8mm II and the original app) is fantastic. Being able to adjust sharpness, etc. is perfect, and the “save original” option is a nice failsafe. Get the subscription. Worth supporting the developer, and it’s inexpensive. Old review, from before the new app: I’d like to point out that there are Easter eggs, which aren’t necessarily obvious. First, tap on the screen to adjust exposure. And most importantly, and something competitors don’t always offer, exposure values gradually adjust, rather than doing abrupt changes. Let’s get some updates, though! I know the aesthetic is for vintage looks, but, I mean, 4K is available. Let’s get optical image stabilization, more frame rates, and sharpness adjustments!

Deleting the app

These guys are scamming people I have paid for the full access to this app and now they asking for the yearly subscription, which is totally not worth it. Someone needs to raise a complaint against these people.

App Design & Subscription

It's sad this app offers a subscription now.. but at least you can disable those filters and not be bothered by them. But one thing I really wish was reverted is the app design.. I loved the previous maximalist design, I know the functionality did not change at all but in my opinion the older design looked better and more sincere if that makes sense. I still absolutely love this app but pls bring back the skeuomorphic design!! it's back in style now..

I actually love it but…

This is app produces beautiful video images. Amazing colors. I actually love it and use it a lot. BUT, the app purposefully removes stabilization when filming, it is so shaky. Looks terrible when filming from a moving vehicle for example. This should be an option, not forced upon us. My phone has IBIS. I would like to take advantage of it. I even enjoy shooting at 18fps because it looks older, but the forced camera shake is unnecessary. Make that an option please. Will gladly change my rating.
