  • Solid Journalism

The Star get plenty of criticisms as being a “liberal tilted rag” (typically from the hard right one can surmise) which I find disingenuous at best. The Star provides as unbiased an angle in presenting the news as one can ask. The “far left” content is found in the Op/Ed section though I find those comments legitimate in most circumstances where the “conservative” commentary seems, more often than not, to depend on baseless claims. I encourage the Star to stay centered and let the chips fall where they may. The truth shall set you free.
    We’ll done.

  • Great app

As a Wildcat fan who lives away from Tucson this app allows me to keep up with what’s going on. Also, if you’re living in Tucson and get the print editions, you don’t get news regarding sports and other issues that take place in the evening as the paper goes to press too early in my opinion. The app has an Extra feature covering that period of time.

  • Az daily Star

After 40 years reading the Star, changes have transitioned its format, reporting, and ownership. It is perplexing when news of Tucson is reported in the a Az Republic but not our Tucson paper though they are owned by the same company. (We miss Fitzsimmons.)Since we began our on line paper, it is easy to send articles to friends and it is less paper waste. Journalism is the watch dog for our society. Keep striving!
As other news medias crinkle and fold, it makes us more appreciative of the Star. Carry on. Xoxo

  • Formatting

I really enjoy reading the AZ Star everyday except for a couple of things. They need to have proofreaders read the articles before they are released. It is distracting to be reading a heavy article and then encounter a misspelled word which can impact the meaning of a sentence. The second issue is the totally blatant leaning of the articles. In particular the letters to the editor. Since we have such a small selection of papers to choose from it would be very helpful if this paper would do a better job of cross representation of the readers..

  • Journalistic concerns

I’ve noticed in recent years that most journalists start their articles with a story. That can be misleading. It’s one example of the facts that may come after a lengthy and emotional beginning to the journalists presentation. I believe the facts should be presented first. We all enjoy a good story, but the who, what, where and when in broader context should come first. Otherwise an emotional single story may skew readers’ perception and turn away further consideration of a particular issue. Non biased presentation of the facts helps the reader to judge potentially biased emotional stories.

  • The Star is a Star

Reading the Star was my Daily habit for many years but the paper version became more difficult to use due to vision changes. By installing the Arizona Daily Star app I an able to read the Daily paper again! Now i enjoy the Stars’ News on my iPad without walking to the curb to retrieve the newspaper! Great way to wake up!

  • Love the app

When we decided to cancel our subscription due to rising costs we opted for the digital version and are very happy with the app.
The page looks like the printed page, like being able to zoom in on photos and small print. Also easy to send articles to other digital devices ot send to printer. We want to support our local journalism and the digital version works best for us. Easy and portable on iPad- can read anywhere!
