In this day when games seem to be designed in a way to capture people's attention and keep them for hours on end, with the monetization motivation leading into a funnel of either maximizing ad revenue or influencing towards in-game spending, the oasis is that catalogue of games designed by Ferry Halim.
The games in the Orisinal catague reinforce harmony and joy. They are stimulating while not being "captivating" in a way that detaches the player from the real world outside the screen. The music, colors, characters and sound effects all offer the simple appeal of joy. Not terror, not anxiety, not fear of missing out, but true, pure fun. The trade off is for the very low upfront purchase price, and not a funnel toward a never ending stream of profits for the developer. This for sure is a welcome relief amidst the storm of studio-backed space trekking titles, bubble themed passtimes and engaging multiplayer universes that absorb people into collective isolation.. There is for sure a true place in the world for the kind of games created by Ferry Halim and his collaborators. And that place is right here with us in the real world, a world of music, beauty and fun.
