  • NO Dishonesty here

To the Reviewers trying claim there's any "dishonesty" or misleading info because of the in-App purchase, it's spelled out CLEARLY in the App description. Try reading before leaving bad reviews & low ratings for an App next time.

Now, to what you gain for adding the Pro Pack Features. If you have the need to crete codes on the fly & push them to Facebook/Twitter it's amazingly simple & accurate. You can even color them! I personally like being able to email the Scan History since I do a lot of testing in the field of QRs. Instead of copy-pasting into a text file, just email the History to myself & keep track there. Nice.

If you don't need those features, it's still the fastest scanner & handles the smallest codes I've seen.

  • Qrafter

Great app. Like many of the other readers the more text is encoded the harder it seems to read it. Would love to see it extended to read and generate micro qr code.
  • Marketer

Awesome. Performs as stated and when used with recommended qr code generator, flawless performance.
  • Serviceable, if dishonest.

While it certainly doesn't live up to the "best scanner" hyperbole the author surrounds it with, Qrafter is an adequate QR scanner. The scanning itself is on par with some of the better (not best) apps, but the UI unpleasantly mixes free and paid functionality, apparently hoping to annoy unsuspecting users into buying the upgrade when a feature refuses to activate.

Even were the app to provide best-in-class scanning, the interface leans more toward crippleware than shareware, aiming to get users to upgrade through misdirection rather than giving them an honest sampler with the option for pro features. It deliberately muddles the line between free and paid features, rendering it's overall quality second in terms of one's lasting impression of the app.

  • Awesome App: But Pay to Remove Ads after Paying to Upgrade? FAIL

I get spending money for the additional features, I'd even have paid $4 bucks for the thing in general.
But requesting people pay an additional $1.99 AFTER they already pay $1.99 for "extra features" is really lame.

Since I never click an ad, you're never going to get a click through cent. Nor commission of anything I was to buy, cuz I wouldn't.
And you're not getting my $1.99 for the convenience of not being harrased by yet more ads. I'll take the harrassment.

But you have created an interesting marketting scenario completely all about you...
I can have the app with no advanced features and ads for free
I can have the app with no advanced features and no ads for $1.99
I can have the app with advanced features and ads for $1.99
I can have the app with advanced features and no ads for $3.98

I can have gas for my car for $1.26 a litre, but I have to pay to use the pump hose per second.
If the app wasn't so usefull, I'd simply give you the finger and move on to the the next offering. When one comes along though, I'll be switching.

    Under duress,
    me.

  • Qrafter works well

No issues, reads every time and very useful. I use QR codes to promote my business.
  • Size maters

This app works great on QR,s of 1.5in & above. It,s so fast as u line up QR it's already linking to webpage.. But what let's it down 4me is if I TRY 2 scan a QR 1in size the iPhone 3 dose not focus close enough 4 the app to work. So I put it down to the camera on iPhone 3 other than that it's work great if u got big'n ;-)

  • Finally a decent QR reader app!

I scan QR tags quite a bit due to a research project I am running on my iPhone4

I had been using Google Goggles (free) and RedLaser (also free).

Google goggles works most of the time but when it fails, it really goes off track and suggests other images, etc. Plus the photo needs to be uploaded to Google servers prior to analysis - so it takes many seconds to find out if you have a good scan or not.

RedLaser is just annoying. It takes a long time to recognize a good QR and does not have any enhanced functions like Qrafter does.

Qrafter is fast, accurate and can scan from my photo library, etc. so when I am on the run, I can just take a snapshot and deal with scanning it later.

Free app is good as is but I paid to turn the ads off and unlock advanced features. Still great deal at $3.98 :)

  • Great for keeping a joint list

My husband and I love having this app and don't have to call each other any more to ask "what is on the list." I always have my list handy, and keep different categories of shopping lists - we are currently working on our summer camping kitchen list. Hubby will put love notes in the list for me too - true, but IT WORKS! Try it

  • Does what it says on the tin

This app is perfect for reading QR codes. I've tested it against many codes generated by many websites. It does well with image noise, and with poor contrast in the image. Even better, it can read QR codes from images, and not just the camera, and it handles many datatypes beautifully. Additional security feature: you can turn off automatic URL opening (unlike some scanners I've used), and preview the URL before you open it.
