I’ve had the app for a few years now and it’s been great, but I’ve just bought a new phone and I have tried backing it up from iCloud with poor results. When I try to open the app it just reverts back to the app screen on the phone, if I switch off iCloud in the app settings on my iPhone then I can use it but all my sittings have gone.
Didn’t worry much as I thought I could record any new sittings on the phone then transfer them to my iPad, tried this yesterday and the iPad has the same problem.
Not impressed but can’t tell if it’s the app or iCloud

This is a problem with iCloud, not the app. If you email us, we can help you.

Really good app

Quite impressed with this app. Easy to navigate and enough info to ID many British birds and common migrant species. Good pics, sounds and info about each bird, locations, habits and genus.
Had a minor problem after downloading and had response and sound advice within the hour. Customer service of this quality is rare these days so very well done

Okay but....

Firstly, there are some great things about this app that others don't offer such as the ability to record sitings and compare different characteristics to confirm a species.

However, I would not recommend this app to a serious twitcher. For a start there are only two or three photographs for each species and little to help with identifying juveniles or distinguishing features from similar species. Secondly, and probably a fundamental problem, is that many species are missing. For example, there are no wood larks, Cirl buntings or bar tailed godwits to name three.

There are much better apps out there in my opinion if you want a really good bird identification app.

This Pocket Birds app is designed to be an easy-to-use guide to common British birds (those that are seen in Britain without making a special trip) plus well-known species. It is a cut-down version of our larger and more expensive Birds of Britain Pro app. The Pro app is intended for more serious birders and includes all the birds you mention plus many more.

Birds galore!

This app is brilliant. It is by far the best of any others that I investigated, when looking for stuff on bird ID. Incredible value. Sounds of bird calls are a nice touch. Also can record notes of sightings. Great for all bird lovers, whether novice or expert. Well Done!

Well thought out app

Have used for a while now and find it easy to use and a great aid to identification. I like the recording of sightings function and sync between devices. More user friendly than other apps. Fully recommend. A query I had was answered virtually instantaneously by email. Good user support.

This is just the best.

Have just identified three Partridges from the app. feeding 30 metres away in a field. Played the call from the app. and they came dashing toward me. Amazing!!!
This is how an app. Should be.
Can't recommend it enough.
Can't wait for, perhaps, a second or two of video of birds in flight?

Very handy app

Love this app very handy to have on my phone when I'm out and about. Sounds are very useful too. Only downside is only has the common birds. Could do with a few of the less common on there too. But still love it

Fantastic App

I use this app all the time with a copy on my iPad & iPhone so I've always got a copy to hand. Now considering getting the birdsong identifier as well as you can't always clearly see the bird particularly when they are perched high in the tree tops

Great!

This guide to birds it brilliant. It is much better than I thought it would be. It has enabled me to identify all the birds locally and the birds I see when I'm out. It's easy to use and it's helped me identify uncommon birds that are more difficult to note or remember until you get home.
I don't usually both to rate apps but this one has really helped me, so I am glad to reciprocate.

Great App.

Downloaded this App. whilst in North Norfolk a couple of weeks ago. It is very good for identifying the type of bird. What I really like is that you can play the sound the bird makes and watch the birds reaction..... Brilliant
