I agree

With : Keenman4454
especially with keenman because in world war 2 france got defeated and the war kept on going
needs some improvement on conquer mode, and make a mode where you can control the axis side or the whole allies side.
for example first you start with usa and you make moves with them, the its the computers turn (and they make moves with Germany, then its my turn moving the Russinans ,so on...)
i would like some improvements as i mentioned and ill buy full version and give it 5 stars
but is still my top game (board strategy type game)
3/5

Decent strategy game

European War is a decent strategy game, but don't expect Axis and Allies type of game play. There are some elements of Axis and allies in this game, such as an economy and a rock-paper-scissors type of unit combat, but overall, the game fails to produce a good WWII simulation and plays more like Risk.

On your turn you have the option of moving units, attacking neighboring territories or purchasing units and "upgrades". There are three unit types, infantry, artillery and tanks. Each has specific bonuses that are poorly explained, but it seems some units have an advantage over others. Artillery, for example, can attack without being counterattacked. One of the issues with unit movement is that two different units can not occupy the same territory. This makes it hard to move units around for defense, and in some cases may leave you with a unit trapped deep within your territory.

There's no real sea or air campaign. To move units across the sea, you purchase a battleship option. The unit then behaves just like on land, but can maneuver through the ocean. There's no air campaign, either. Instead you can purchase airstrikes, tha is bomb a specific territory.

Cash is earned by the number of territories you own and these territories can be upgraded to produce more cash.

In the end, the game has elements similar to Risk and Axis and Allies, but in my opinion is no better than either of these games. If you're looking for casual strategy, this is a good game. If you're looking for a good WWII simulation, European War 2 falls short.

Why?

I was playing conquest as the U.S.S.R and one of my allies (Poland) was defeated and once that happened, the game just said "failure" and took me back to the title screen. Please fix this so that if one of your allies loses, you can still play.

New game

Would the makers of this fabulous game please make another based on the board game Axis&Allies. Free or paid I would love to see an app made based more on the game axis&allies.
Please and thanks,
Big Fan

Crap

Allies attake you and kill each other off

Barely intelligible tutorial

The tutorial is written in such poor English that it gets hard to tell what some parts mean. The game might be fun, although mechanics require far too much tapping buttons and don't make much use of the iPad interface.

Frustrating sequel

After the excellence of European War 1, I had high hopes for this game. Unfortunately, the main differences were negative. Instead of generic armies, the are now different infantry, armor, and artillery armies. This sounds good, but they can't exist in the same square. So the panzers can't move because the are blocked by the artillery, which can't move because it's blocked by infantry, etc.

Second, armies can only attack once per turn, except tanks, which may get off additional attacks as long as everything goes perfectly, which is rare. With an average territory only being attackable from 2 other territories, this reduces the war to a grinding match. Gone is the "attack until you win" of Risk-type games.

In a map with lots of territories, these concepts will probably work, but on the grand-strategic scale this game does, it needs some serious rethinking.
