Description of ColorPicker

Ever missed the picker tool in real life? Here it comes! ColorPicker uses the camera or a photo of your iOS device to tell you the color you are pointing at. The free version of this app tells the RGB code only. You can upgrade to full version by InApp-purchase and access further color palettes including RAL and W3C color names, store your colours or send them by email. (The color detection generally depends on the used camera and surrounding light conditions)

  • Identifies the color whether live from the camera or a photo

I do oil paintings and the challenge is always to isolate a color whether from a live scene or from an image I’m using as reference. This app is exactly what I need, showing the color where the app’s crosshairs are placed. Move the camera so the crosshairs are over the point of color, or if working off from an image in the photo album, move the image behind the crosshairs. The color indicated shows up as a band at the top of the screen, wide enough to make the color very clear and obvious. Excellent! I’m using iPhone 11 ProMax.

  • Very disappointed

Tested this against a RAL colour chart prior to using it in anger to have a customer colour made for a project. It didn’t agree with the RAL colour chart on any colours so I can’t use it. Waste of money.
  • Apple Xs iPhone

Purchased shutter blinds that turned out to be made in China. Prior to ordering I had asked the UK Supplier if their blinds were made in Uk and they said yes but after placing my order it was revealed they were made in China. I know I should have cancelled but regrettable let it go ahead. After making enquiry to have the RAL code the supplier said they didn’t have it, therefore fortunately I have been able to match the colour using this APP. Brilliant App and would recommend.
