Please improve the search function

I really like this app for the basic search function is so clunky it’s making look elsewhere for similar apps. The search function needs a serious overhaul, it’s not even picking up chain hotels at times

A little buggy but responsive developer

I switched over from Mapstr that started charging a crazy amount of money and stumbled upon this app. The transfer of data was pretty smooth and I liked how it has a lot of similar features to what I was drawn to Mapstr as a user by.
I’ve had a few issues with the app. Mainly when trying to add pins abroad, searching the address usually doesn’t bring up results so I have to go to Google Maps to retrieve the coordinates to manually add the location. The adding friends/ other users is also very buggy and doesn’t seem to really work. I had difficulty making a shared list because it kept saying the person who I was adding wasn’t logged in when they tried opening the link.
All that said, the founder/developer is very open to suggestions and feedback both through the in app suggestion function or through reddit so I’m very happy I made the switch.

Great app to have all your favorite places in one

I love the app and the customization. I have just started using it but it’s very good and user friendly. I have used the import option and worked seamlessly.

Two features I would like to see:
-to try and seen button so I can differentiate places I have been and places I want to go
-filtering from the map. There is filtering from the list but it’s generally easier to view the filtering of different places from the map, so I can view what’s around rather than from the list.

too many bugs to use

i’ve had the pin drop app for multiple years and have dealt with some of the issues with sharing pins just because i liked the ui and had a backlog of pins from many trips. unfortunately, it’a gotten to the point where the app is borderline unusable with other people and i’ve had to switch to wanderlog. the app has a ‘list’ feature that should allow you to share with other pin drop users, but when i try to add pins to a list they just don’t appear despite the app saying that the list have 88 pins. opening the list just shows the ‘no pins’ screen. similarly, when i logged into my account on my laptop it displayed my tags but not any of my pins. i can’t even add any friends as there is no function to search for usernames and when i try to copy the invite link or use the qr code, it either says that the link is outdated or it just shows an infinite loading screen. there have also always been bugs with the screen freezing, the app crashing and the text curser moving back to the beginning of the text box when trying to title things. a couple years ago i even had a large group of my pins deleted when attempting to share my pins with a friend. i stuck by this app for a really long time because it has some good qualities but at this point it’s just too difficult to use and ive had to take the time to transfer all my pins to another app.

best app ever!!

this is precisely what i needed, i couldn’t find an app similar to this and was honest to god about to create one myself. no this one allows you to drop places u went (or want to go to) and put them into a tag / list so u can go back to it. it’s organized, it shows off all your pins in general, AND u can leave pics and notes for yourself

The best app of this kind I have found.

I have been searching and trialling similar apps for well over six months and this by far is the best! There are so many Pin Mapping apps in the AppStore and except for this one (Pin Drop) do not come close to being functional and useful. This is a great app and I envisage so many uses for it besides mine. In case you are thinking I have been solicited to write this, I have not!

Not user friendly

For example: search for a place. There’s one down the road.
Response: here’s a bunch an hour away
Can I search for nearer or get more results
Response: No. this all you get
Can I set a default area or maybe search around my location?
Response: No. you want these ones an hour away.

Hi there, I assume you're talking about the re:Quest feature? I couldn't see any searches from Canada coming through the past 7 days. Maybe you don't have location services enabled which means it doesn't know where you are. Is there any chance you could email hello@pindropapp.com with some more information so we might be able to see what's going on? Thanks!

Frustrating!

Unable to select my list to import even using their template. Tried adding them individually but when I clicked on one to add pin to my trip list, I got a notice that “there was a problem. We are looking into it”. I won’t hold my breath since I reached to customer service four days ago, they replied, and I replied back with the answers to questions they asked, and I have not heard anything since.

Hi Karen, sorry it took longer to reply than I'd like. I passed on your first email on the Wednesday to our engineering team to reply to you. It appears they didn't and when you emailed on Saturday we were obviously doing weekend-things (aka, not working). I replied first thing Monday and have yet to hear back from you. We'll obviously take the time to fix and upload your data for you.
