Description of The Language of Letting Go

Written by codependency expert Melody Beattie, the Language of Letting Go provides daily guidance and encouragement for those who struggle with codependency. The app contains all 366 readings from the best-selling book, one for each day of the year, helping you on your journey of self-care and recovery to a path of freedom and a lifetime of healing, hope, and happiness. Each daily reading focuses on a specific topic and ends with a related prayer or affirmation. Topics include: setting healthy boundaries, recognizing feelings, loving yourself, trusting your Higher Power, finding peace, and letting go of shame, guilt, sadness, anger, and worry. Also included are handy reference lists of the Twelve Steps of AA, the Twelve Traditions of AA, and the Twelve Steps of Al-Anon. When the app is opened each day, it will automatically show you that day’s reading. Choose a time for a daily notification reminding you to read, reflect, and meditate on that day’s reading and on your recovery. Open the app anytime you need to refocus. Codependency—the concept of losing oneself in the name of helping another—has rung true for millions around the globe, and can manifest for many reasons: a spouse, child, parent, or loved one addicted to alcohol or other drugs; a mentally or physically ill loved one; sexual addiction; abuse; or neglect. By integrating her own life experiences and fundamental recovery reflections, Melody Beattie helps readers take responsibility for their own pain and self-care as she encourages them to remember that each day is an opportunity for growth and renewal. Features: PRESS the “Today” button to access today’s reading. SWIPE forward or back to easily access more daily readings. SHARE the daily reading with friends by e-mail or text. BOOKMARK your favorite readings (press the star in the upper right-hand corner) and easily return to them (press the star in the bottom toolbar). SEARCH all 366 daily readings. RECEIVE a notification every day to remind you to read the daily meditation. JUMP to a specific reading using the calendar button. SET your font size using your device settings. CHOOSE between light or dark mode.

  • Life Saver!

I received my first copy of “The Language of Letting Go” in 1992 on the anniversary of my 1st year of sobriety. I didn’t really get what I was reading when I began, and saw mostly other people and their behavior in it.
The 2nd time through I began seeing myself.
After growing up in a home with a WWII war veteran who became alcoholic and (years later, i understood) had PTSD, and a French war bride mother who had her own PTSD and an ever growing depression, TLoLG became my teacher (along with AA & later DAA) for living life and dealing with family, relationships, work associates, and all my friends and other members in the programs.
I worked with teenagers in a locked facility for 20 years and have sent many home with copies of this guide for life, (I’ve also bought and have given multiple copies to sponsee’s I’ve worked and work with) and I also made copies of some of the readings I thought most poignant, that they could relate to and find help in, and would tape them inside the copy of books in the library I kept for the kids to read.
Many of those kids loved the readings, they would become topics for group and our individual conversations.
Truly a life saver and full life giver!

  • Exceptional

This book changed my life forever in a phenomenal way. I am so grateful for opening the pages of this book. It has never let me down and every time I read it, it’s like the first time I’ve ever read it. I learn something from it over and over again. I will never be able to express how much it means to me and my life in mere words.

  • Perfect way to start the day!

These daily lessons have become such an important part of my day. I’m not exaggerating when I say that they have been tremendously helpful as I navigate my way through a divorce after 35 years of marriage. So timely, so insightful, like they are direct messages from my higher power.
I really love this app and will use it daily for the rest of my days.
