Not user friendly

It’s great for finding a hiking area. After that it becomes hard. It takes me to the wrong or outdated start point. Maybe because the author of the story has added it wrong.
When I do manage, somehow to get to the location, the navigation through Wikiloc is atrociously glitchy.
I’m deleting it. Can’t hack the frustration of trying to enjoy a hike. Rather just go by asking people how to go about the hike than depend on the people who contribute.
I do like the photos that people add.

Stay Way from this app

Big chance you will get lost before with this.

Having fun

I’m having double fun, first hiking and second using Wikiloc. Easy to use for following trails, I send them to my watch and I receive alerts when I go off trail.
Once home, edit (add photos and comments) it’s a no brainer. But there’s no way to add a buddy if you haven’t done it right at the end of the hike.
Wikiloc, if you’re reading this, please fix it 😃

Used it for some time.

And it is good if someone has done a route.
Also good to import a GPX file to follow the route.
However you can’t the adjust the route once you are on it and want to add to the route.
You can’t plan a route unless you have the ability to import from a fox file from else. (I.e ordnance survey map)

Where’s my fanfare?

I complete most of my walks by heading back to where I park the car and not the exact finish point of the walk. Because of this the app doesn’t register that I’ve completed the walk, I don’t get a fanfare 😕 and neither does the walk author know someone has completed their walk. Completed walks should be within a 500m radius of the finish point.

Love this app.

I don’t usually bother reviewing the apps I have but, I’ve just read some of the reviews on Google so here goes. I’ve had this app for years, possibly since before there was a premium version. I’ve never had any problems with it. I decided to pay the £5/year as I liked if so much. I’ve used it in Scotland and Europe on walking, skiing and even beach holidays. I usually switch to flight mode when on long walks which I expect to take more than 8hrs. I click the screen off when I put it in my pocket and it’s there to flip on again when I want. I like that you are always “ looking “ towards the top of your phone as this means that if you are looking in the direction you are going you walk towards the top of the phone and the map orientates under you, OS maps don’t doo this which can be a bit annoying and yes I have that app too and pay a bit more for it as there is more details in the map. It’s great that you can share walks with others. All in all I have no complaints with this tidy little app.

Has potential but needs more work

I tried the free week trial, started a hike. Half way my position on the map stopped updating. There was no way to see where I was during the walk making it impossible to follow the map. Had to resort to another app.

Can’t create an account with an email address

I tried three times with the app to create an account using my email address. It wants my to sign in instead but because I have no account, it tells me to try again. 3x.
So I went to the website to create an account there, but there are only two options: sign in with Google or Sign in with Apple. I don’t want to do either of these. I want to create an account using my email. So I delete the app. Waste of time.

Hi, RonaldRH49. You may sign in just with your e-mail address by choosing the "Sign up with email" in the "Create New Account" section of the Sign Up screen. Best regards.

Good app except...

I got this because it pairs easily with my Suunto watch. I like all the features and everything works great. What I don’t like about it is that it automatically uploads EVERY ONE of my fitness activities from my Suunto to the Wikiloc app. Plus, all those activities are immediately public unless I move them to a private list. There’s no way to turn the automatic upload feature off once it is paired with my Suunto. If someone doesn’t realize that all their Suunto fitness activities are public, then if they begin an activity from their house, the public trail shows the entire planet where they live. They need to incorporate a button that either turns off the automatic upload from their device or turn off automatic public without having to create a non-public list. Either way, I’m considering deleting the app because I sometimes do 2 fitness activities per day and I don’t need all that on my Wikiloc app.

Edit: With iOS, there is no way to block or delete someone who is “following.” There is also no way to keep people from “following” you and your activities.

Thanks for your review, Alan. You can choose to upload all your trails from Suunto as private in your Settings page at wikiloc.com. Just disable the toggle "Upload your trails as public to your Wikiloc profile" in the Suunto section and then save the settings.

Wikiloc genuine rating

This is an update of the review I put n a few years ago. Same issue of not able to plot a route, otherwise excellent app

This app is really good for all aspects of walks with only one exception for me. I would like to be able to plot a route before leaving which I don’t think you can do. Every thing else that I would want is in there. I would highly recommend this app and often do, especially at the cost. We do use an app called footpaths for plotting walks so something similar included in Wikiloc would give it a 5 star rating for me,

Thank you for your review, wikiloc Hig. Although it's not possible to do it in the app, you may manually draw a trail on our website: https://help.wikiloc.com/article/262-draw-drawing-creating-trail-web-tool-manual Regarding the review's nickname, we think you may be referring to the App Store's review system, in which case, I'm afraid we can't decide which information is required to make a review.
