  • Won't work:-/

The app will not let me sequence picture and recordings. It will only do one picture and recording.
  • Wasted 3.99

I got this app for my son so he could make his own thoughts and recordings and I could send them for him to family members. He has Downs and loves to use his iPad , but even though he has a good vocabulary and a memory like no one else, he never has had the dexterity to write. I thought this would be perfect. So far every time we record it FORCE CLOSES. Completely shuts the whole app down and goes to the home screen on his iPad. We have had it 15 minutes and he had already given up and went to his iPhone to play with SIRI. I don't know how to get a refund as I have never asked for one, but this app is garbage!

  • excellent app for speech!!

We use this app to practice my son's verbal expressive responses. He does well using it independently and can add to it later should he choose which gives him a "good choice option" for motivation.

I like the simple interface and it probably does what it says as an education tool 1on 1.

I was hoping to be able to use the recordings, and my 2 stars are for not disclosing how the picture and the audio recording are exported. I paid for the app only to find out after the fact that:
"When emailing a recording, all the images will be attached along with the audio file. The attachments, however, will not be a slideshow. The audio files and images will be separate files."

Further, the audio is emailed in a format that need to be converted to be used in other apps. I would have expected mp3.

So if the above is not a must have for you, go ahead.
For me that was a deal-breaker. Unusable.

  • Has potential

Came across this app in my search for something to use for making social stories or video modeling for autistic students. It has a nice tutorial built in, which is always helpful. What makes this different from all the others is the ability to add either a picture or a voice recording to what you have already made. It also lets you crop photos to use just the portion you need. Creations are easy to email. On the downside ... Once you add a picture to your page, you can't do anything with it like move it or resize it. You also cannot change the order of the pages you have already made. I never did figure out how to create a new student profile to use this with more than one student. If these things are possible, they need to be added to the tutorial.

  • Pretty good, but...

I like the sequencing feature, but it moves too fast on playback. An impaired child or adult does not have time to focus on one photo before the next one appears. The app needs a way to control the speed of presentation if you are going to market it to speech pathologists! I tried pausing between photos, but the audio then rushes the photo presentation when the "continue" button is pressed.

  • Great but...

Great for the K classroom to let kids record stories. But please...can you move the delete all button away from the archive? How can the kids go in to look at the work without the fear of everything being deleted? Thank you!
  • Endless Possibilities

I LOVE this app! It is versatile and simply perfect! Thank you!!!

This is a fabulous app. I love using it with my students to document their narrative skills. It is also great for my students to tell me about their weekend, trips, activities etc. and then I can send an audio to their parents afterwards as not only documentation, but just to let parents know what occurred during therapy. I have also used it personally for when I moved into my new house and wanted to give an audio/visual tour of what my new house looked like. This is one of my most favorite apps and I use it all the time.

  • Great for documenting progress!

Ever wish you could pair your own photos and your child’s verbal descriptions in a simple, easy process? Mobile Education’s Speech Journal App allows you to do just that. With an I Pad, you can either take a photo or use one that has been saved to the camera library. Just a few examples of how these customized, highly motivating images can then be used would be sequencing, expressive language exercises, providing directions and explaining procedures, use of appropriate volume and prosody. As with all the other terrific Mobile Education Apps, this one lets you record and play back the child’s responses, so that you can point out just what was done correctly or just what needs to be improved.
