  • Excellent app

I've just installed this app and played around with it for a couple of hours and think it's amazing for the price - nothing beats free! I've been using it with a Fender Telecaster and Gibson Les Paul into an iRig and out through a Roland amp. It easily beats Garage Band which for me is always accompanied by a lot of annoying hiss? This app does none of that and give a very clean manageable sound. All the controls are easy to use and you get a very good choice for free. Once of had a bit longer on this version I'll definitely be updating to the paid version which looks like a fantastic deal too! Keep up the good work.

  • Jam App noteworthy on its own

Acquired the free version to play around with - I'm not a big fan of amp modelling etc but having your iPhone work as a nice little headphone amp - well that sounded ok. What blew me away was the Jam section which has the facility to slow down any recording so you can figure out what is going on. I have used similar tools on the PC but by comparison this is easy and very effective for practice purposes. Loop capability as well so an ideal learning tool.

Latency is a bit of an issue for me on the amp modelling side of things - you really do need to use the lowest latency setting if at all possible and "digital" noise can also be an issue (I'm using an iRig input btw). Unlike others though I would not be complaining price wise as I know the sort of work that goes into creating software and pretty much all the iPhone Apps rate as a bargain (check out the price for Microsoft Office 2010)!

The built in tuner is also one of the best ( I was alrady using this as a separate app).

  • Impressive!

The effects sound the most realistic of the similar apps I've tried, and I find iShred is the only one second to this.

I love the fact that the phrase sampler is included in the free version, I've used it already, and can already tell I'm going to get a lot of use out of it.

This app works great with my Apogee Jam, and I'm looking forward to purchasing a couple of the pedals, although I only gave this four stars due to the fact that the amp models are $3 to $5 apiece. One could rack up a lot of $$ in cumulative investment in this.

That being said, I don't think $9 is too much for the pro version of this app, and when I can, I plan to upgrade to it. I just hope it gives me a lot more pedals and amp models to work with.

EDIT: I bought the effect expansion pack, but I must say I'm a bit disappointed in the reverse delay pedal. I was expecting it to do more than it actually does in the way of backward effects. There are still some usable effects in the pack, though, like the compressor/limiter and the other delay pedals.

The octaver pedal works better if you don't plug into the iPad through an external pedal such as a Crybaby Wah, like I have. Better than iShred's 'Octavinator' pedal, so props for that.

Because of the reasons I just mentioned, I won't deduct a star from the rating, and I'm still hoping to get some good effect pedals that are not in the bundle I just bought, as well as the amp models when I upgrade to XT Pro.

  • works great with my pedal

    better than the linked app
  • Great app

Great app, the free version has limited models and effects, whcih sound great, but you can purchase others through in app. Be aware that any Ian's you purchase in this version do not transfer to the pro version, but buying the essentials pack on this version is exactly the same functionality as having jamup pro xt. So if you. Started, as I did, with the free version and. Have added model packs (I have the bass amps), then rather than buying jamup pro xt, you want to do it through iap on this version.

The bass amps are very cool and this has been an extremely useful tool for practicing, learning songs on gigs, and warming up. I bought the pro version yesterday on sale, which is how I found out about the iap transfer issue (it is the way the App Store works, not an issue on the part of any developer), and the guitar amps and effects that come with the essentials pack also sound great. The developer helped me remedy the issue very quickly, which he did not have to do, but stick with one version and buy in app in the one version and you'll be fine. Highly recommended, and if you a re a guitarist, you'll want the pro version anyway as the models sound great and give you a good variety of effects and tones, so go for that one to begin with, especially as it is hugely discounted at the moment.

  • Best Sounding Guitar App Out There

Whenever I'm practicing at home plugged into my headphones, this app is the only piece of equipment I need. Sounds better than any other amp modeling I've come across with most life like tube sounds. Jamming along with your favorite songs is easy, although a little delay between pushing play and the song starting would help give a person time to get settled in and ready to play. I only wish they would put the add-ons on sale more often. The price can add up very quick. That would be my only complaint.

  • This is the best and most versatile guitar app out there

I have tried most of the guitar amp simulation apps, but they were all a bit muddy for my taste, the best out of the bunch was amplitube. Then I downloaded jam up and boy was I impressed. Finally some good tones with an impressive air feel to the sound ( I bought most of the expansion packs) what a treat. The only other close competitor is the slash amplitube, but all and all the jam up app is the best hands down. Kudos to these guys and it looks like with updates ever so often they are striving to GET IT RIGHT. Soon in the future I'll ditch my amp and opt for the iOS. Oh one thing please get an update for the OD distortion pedal since it defaults to a white screen without the pedal fine tuning screen.
And can you make the green box sovtek electro harmonix Big Muff. The tone sharing on the web is fantastic an easy way to load up your presets.

    Update
Thanks for the OD patch, all is well now.

  • Replaced my whole rig

I tried out a similar product at NAMM 2012 and liked the idea of using an iPad, when I came across this, it changed everything! After a few hours of playing through JamUp, I decided I was going to use it as my main recording, writing and live device. So far, I have received excellent compliments at live shows, about recordings and about the overall idea of using JamUp! I'm glad I found this awesome app! Highly recommended for casual musicians to professional musicians looking for another great piece of gear.

  • Killer

Who says you get nothing for free.. High class tones and effects
I will be buying pro version!!
  • Simply Brilliant!

I can't say enough about this app. Teamed with the Apogee Jam it delivers fabulous sound and incredibly intuitive simplicity. It's a perfect tool for training and jamming to super easy to access backing tracks. Until now I have been using a TASCAM GT-R1. Tonight I put it on eBay. Don't hesitate IMHO for the $100 for the Apogee and this app, you won't do better anywhere.
