Description of Equine Techniques

Content: 54 techniques used in equine practice, 269 photos and diagrams, 37 movies. Universal for iPad (full screen version), iPhone and iPod touch. This App is intended for Veterinary Professionals, including Veterinarians, Veterinary Students, Veterinary Nurses and Veterinary Technicians. This App has been developed by Dr Kevin Corley DACVIM DACVECC, co-editor of the book ‘The Equine Hospital Manual’ used in veterinary hospitals throughout the world. It provides an essential resource for practitioners, students, residents and specialists alike. The App provides step-by-step instructions for 54 clinical techniques. For each, there is an equipment list, full instructions on how to perform the technique illustrated by photos, diagrams or videos. The techniques range from simple procedures such as over-the–wire catheter placement and regional limb perfusion, to more advanced techniques such as neck articular facet injection and cardiac output measurement by lithium dilution. Essential emergency techniques such as CPR (both adults and foals), evacuation of pneumothorax, tracheotomy and administration of blood transfusions are also included. The App represents excellent value for money and is a “must have” resource for all involved in equine practice. All of the pictures, movies and text are on the phone or iPad and no internet connection is required after the first use. The British Equine Veterinary Association (BEVA) also offer this App free to their members as part of their membership benefits package. We have posted a video of the App playing on an iPad on Youtube - http://www.youtube.com/user/VeterinaryAdvances All pictures, movies and text are copyright Kevin Corley and Veterinary Advances Ltd 2011-2013, with the exception of: The pictures, movies and text for posterior ethmoidal nerve block are copyright Veronica Roberts 2011 and used with kind permission. • Disappointing

Was expecting so much more! Videos are very poor, not edited and tiny on the screen. Photos are often poor or missing steps. Written description is the best bit. Does not include perineural limb blocks or joint injections, and in an equine procedures app these are pretty essential! Such a great idea for an app but badly done I'm afraid. Needs seriously updating before considering purchase

  • Fantastic

The update is brilliant - bringing another three techniques to the App…. I got this App in August 2011 and it is amazing that they have already updated it twice - bring more techniques, photos and videos.
The great thing about this App is that all the videos and photos are there on the phone, and you don't need to access the internet and wait for them to download when you need them. The downside of this is that the App is pretty big at 307MB - it takes quite a long time to download once you have purchased/updated it!
The pictures and the videos are very clear - and the text is very useful.

Limited in the procedures it describes. Could be a lot more comprehensive!
