Now, you get an ad for every chapter you click on (used to be at the bottom of the screen, which was fine). And I mean a full-size video ad that has to play for at least five seconds. They couldn’t even crop it right, so the “close ad” button is mostly cut off by the bottom of your screen.
On top of that, don’t bother downloading the app if you don’t have it already, because you can’t download stories anymore. You literally can’t read any story that you don’t already have saved.
For some reason every time that I try to get on the app now it says pocketfictiondomain error.1 before that was okay it still worked but now it’s opening for a few seconds and then closes the app. I was even fine with the ad pop ups but this makes the app pointless to have. Btw before this gets said I have uninstalled it and reinstalled it. Now I have a new problem it says a story has one chapter when it has over 200k words and of course the only chapter I can read is the first one please fix this
It’s a great app, and was working fine until recently. It just randomly crashes even you even look at it wrong. I don’t understand what the problem is. This app needs a serious update. It’s been over a year. Get on that.
It also crashes every time you try to download something new or even download an update to a story. PLEASE FIX THIS.
I love this app and I’ve used it for years since it lets you download fan fiction and read it offline which I like for traveling or saving my phones battery since I’m not using any data really. Ever since the new ad system was implemented it absolutely murders my battery in a short amount of time. I don’t know what changed so dramatically in the app besides the ads, so I’m assuming that’s the problem. Please fix it, I’ve always loved this app.
Future update should have a turn off pop up adds feature if you could please do so now there’s an issue updating stories on here fix now and now I can’t read any of my stories due to your update closing the app down every time I try to read a chapter it’s not showing anything now please fix this issue NOW it was just working fine yesterday
I love this app honestly.. but it only has access to one sites collection. If it were to include stories from more sources, it would be perfect. That and the ads. I understand them and they don’t normally bother me, but do they really have to be every two pages?
Updated April 2020- still no update, and I can’t load updates on this app. Need an update please.
My favorite for fanfic, but my stuff is set to dark mode, and the app needs to catch up- all of my previous settings have been reset and they won’t change. When I try to adjust background or font colors, the app crashes. Please update!
So I wrote a review back when this was first updated singing the praises of the app (praises well deserved before said update and for reasons that are technically still valid). The new ads, however, have completely ruined the experience I’ve had with this app. They’re invasive, constant, and have no cool down. So if you’re trying to go back in a story that has just been updated after a long hiatus because you can’t remember what happened and are just flicking through chapters to get a quick reminder, you WILL get an ad for every chapter you touch. It’s highly frustrating especially considering how fantastic this app used to be. There isn’t even a way to disable them. In the App Store it says there is an in app purchase available but I can’t find anywhere to do so. Please, please, please change how the ads work. Even just putting in a cool down would make it slightly better. (Preferably I would say change it back to a constant ad on the bottom, I genuinely didn’t mind that, but you probably changed it for some reason I don’t understand. So... yeah.)
I used to love this app so much. Now it’s been an absolute pain to use. I just lock my phone not even a minute and when I come back the app crashes and needs to be restarted. Half the time it doesn’t even download the new chapters of stories I already have. Anytime I open the app it gives me an error alert. I wish it would be fixed cause this app is so convenient when I’m on the go with no data or WiFi.
A lot of the time I can find the books in the categories I choose and then other times I can’t and I know there are those types of stories because I found some before but now it says no results. So until it is fixed this will stay at 4 stars.
