I'm sorry for the late reply. I'm surprised that the app was found with your search. I think it should not be, because you are right, the app is not that educational. The purpose of this app is not to be super educational. It's trying to be different and really exciting. However, I'd like to think it has educational elements as well. While it doesn't teach math or reading, it does have some counting, lots of logical reasoning and problem solving, a little bit of personal hygiene and we hope it shows an example of empathy as well when treating the sick monsters. There are voice over instructions in the app. We tried to to give kids just enough instructions to be able to figure out what to do in the app. The app does not explain everything right away. It gives short instructions to help kids go on, but at the same time it tries to keep a sense of mystery and leaves things to be discovered by playing. Also the instructions are always repeated when the app notices that kids are not making any progress. But naturally it cannot work for every child and for all ages. Every child is different. I did the best I could keeping in mind the target audience. The app was tested with 5-6 year old kids who received it really well.
