Description of Your Food Intolerance

Food intolerance or allergy is a significant and widespread medical problem that can be difficult to diagnose. Food allergy can cause severe symptoms in sensitive individuals and may be life threatening if not correctly diagnosed. In many instances the offending food is easily identified however milder forms of food allergy may be more difficult to diagnose. Food intolerance is a neglected area of medicine because of diagnostic difficulties, non-specific symptoms and the relatively mild nature of the resulting illness; however repeated irritation or inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract may have serious consequences including malabsorption syndromes, small bowel overgrowth, coeliac disease and bowel cancer. Your Food Intolerance is an advanced diagnostic programme that is able to identify food groups and specific foods that may be causing your symptoms. The app works by systematically restricting various food groups and individual foods in your diet over a set period and analysing your food intake and any associated symptoms within the designated time interval. Restrictions are designed to allow a varied and reasonable diet within the allotted time frame. Symptoms are measured for their frequency and severity and are categorised as allergic or intolerant. The app is designed to operate in three stages. Stage I. You will be asked to assign the foods you would typically eat to 1 of the 8 listed food groups. The app contains a comprehensive list of foods contained in each group. You can add foods to these food groups if the food you normally eat is not listed. You will be asked to exclude one food group each day for a set period of time and the results will be analysed. If a suspect food group is identified you may complete the programme or proceed to the next stage. Stage II. If no food group has been identified you will be asked to repeat the programme excluding one food group for seven days. Stage III. If a suspect food group has been identified you will be asked to select the foods from that food group and exclude one of these foods daily as in Stage I. During the course of the programme, you will be required to enter data PRIOR TO EACH MEAL. You will be asked to enter food groups or foods you are about to consume and identify and quantify any symptoms you experienced from the PREVIOUS MEAL. At the end of the diagnostic programme, your food intake and symptoms will be analysed. You will be presented with a report which lists any identified suspect food groups and foods, and whether your symptoms are suggestive of intolerance or allergy. The diagnostic programme once started, will take a number of weeks to complete. If you are diligent in recording your foods and not eating the prohibited foods as instructed, this programme will take roughly one month to complete. For individuals with more complex allergies or intolerance the programme may take 2 to 3 months to complete. Please note that this app is only intended for people who have experienced symptoms of food intolerance or allergy for a number of months. This programme is a simple, yet effective way to determine any food intolerances or allergies that you may have, so don't wait, download it now!

Reviews of Your Food Intolerance

  • Limited

Needs the user to fill in symptoms that aren’t listed
  • Good App If You Keep Notes On Side

The app was very useful in helping me understand how to identify my food intolerance. It identified what symptoms to look for and provided a slider input to enter the severity of the various symptoms. I kept notes on the side outside of the app. At the end of Stage 1 testing the app did not specifically identify my food intolerance, but suggested I continue with their Stage 2 test. However, using the notes I kept on the side, it was clear I had a milk food intolerance. I expect the app inability to clearly identify my milk intolerance is a result of my input error - the app did not specify which group to include soy milk in so when I did a web search and was told to include soy milk with other dairy products. So I assume it was my error. I am very pleased with the app.
  • Only broad categories of food

I got this app trying to diagnose allergies in my infant daughter based on what I are. Granted that is not what it is designed for, but I bought it still might help in keeping track. Because it only has broad categories, it hasn't even helped in that. Wasted my money...
I am in the midst of a "program" but since the allergies are hers not mine I can't track symptoms.
