Good when it works
Quicker than paper copy
Still a poor app
I’m using a 2018 iPad Pro, 10.5”, 256gb. (Fully up to date iOS). Hardly an out of date piece of kit, yet the performance of the app is horrific. Very slow and low resolution. Doesn’t scale properly when in landscape mode.
Also, where is the ‘close’ button..??! Sometimes I can close the edition I’m reading, but most of the time not and I have to close the app just to choose a different edition.
Search is still very bad, I fail to understand how the search indexer is able to miss so many items.
Please give higher priority to the search functionality, following that, proper resolution pictures... oh, and stop using basic images with text in that you can’t zoom in on to read!
Response from developer
Dear 357-JJ-, Many thanks for the feedback and providing us with the opportunity to put things right. We were aware of low resoultion issues on certain pictures and a fix was applied on the 6th August to all future editions - hopefully you are now experiencing far greater clarity on all pictures. With respect to app navigation, please press back arrow at top left of screen and this will return you to a thumbnail of the latest edition. Scroll down to see all other avilable editions without the need to close the app. We were aware of scaling issues on i-pads, whereby it was necessary to scroll down to view the foot of the page. An update was issued at the beginning of August that we believed fixed the issue, please let me know if that is not the case for you. [Edit] Such functionality is fully operational from 1st September and enables archive access from point of subscription. With respect to "zoom in", can I check if you have utilised the article pop up function? If you press on an image with editorial content - then the screen will re-populate exclusively with that content, hopefully negating the requirement to zoom in. We have not previously received negative comments with respect to the the speed of the app, but are keen to resolve. Could you please ping an email to subscriptions@jerseyeveningpost.com and a member of the team will be in touch. Many thanks, Matt Ross Managing Director
Better
I can find no facility to refresh to today’s edition.

Great
The user interface is easy to navigate. All round a solid app for staying up to date with everything that’s happening in Jersey.

Don’t bother
Response from developer
ArchiJim, We are sorry to learn of your negative experience, the overwhelming feedback received so far has been positive. A number of users experienced initial difficulties that were overcome when the app was deleted and reinstalled. If this does not work please contact subscriptions@jerseyeveningpost.com who will seek to resolve. Rest assured that if for any reason the app does not perform as advertised, we will refund in full. Matt Ross Managing Director
Buggy and terrible UI
Click read for an edition and a dialogue pops up asking if I want to download. If I wanted to I would have clicked download instead of read so why does the app need to ask this?
Great having supplements available but navigating them is unnecessarily complicated too. Why can’t app have a list where all are displayed at once.
Apps such as Readly provide a much better experience/UI in providing access to printed publications.
