My fitness pal who?
I previously used my fitness pal but after they added the paywall I was looking for another similar app. My macros+ exceeded my expectations and with low cost for great features! I use the app for tracking and love it! It takes abit of effort in the beginning to enter foods I usually use, but after that it is suuuper easy and convenient. I love the fact that I can make bulk meals and easily get the nutritional info for each serving I have. Thank you!!

More effort than a paid app is worth
I purchased this app as I was excited to start tracking my macros and the label scanning feature seemed great as I’d used it before on apps like my fitness pal and it worked a treat. This app, while it has the feature.. it’s actually useless. I’ve spent more time entering the nutritional values for the food I’m eating than I would think is justified. This morning I had a fried egg on toast.. they don’t even have fried eggs as an option when you search it.
This app has a lot of potential but I am too time poor to be able to enter every single nutritional detail of my diet. It would be easier (and quicker) to log my foods in a notebook by hand and track it that way

Give it a chance!
After years of using other very well know macro counting apps, I was forced to use this one when undertaking coaching, at first I thought this is so hard to use and very time intensive. But please give it some time as once you have your often used foods logged in, it becomes very simple and fast to use. I love the fact that you can copy your days from one to the next or as often as you like saving log in time if you have food prepped the same meals. Another great feature is the ability to put in recipes and work out their macro’s, this has enabled me to have longevity in counting macros as cooking more than just basics is important to me with a family to feed. Granted making the recipe in the app is time consuming (saved for me with a thermomix ) but once it’s logged you can use it time and time again. I have also found very useful videos online helping me learn to use the app and the macros inc section under the brand icon has already done a lot of the working out of basic items for you example , veges, fruit and rice etc. It’s extremely cheap to buy and I’m finding a lot more precise in measurements than other apps giving me much better results in my weight loss journey. Highly recommended. Ps for context I’m Australian and yes majority of already logged brands are American but it’s easy to do manual log of the items macro data and as we tend to eat a lot of the same products they are saved for future use in the app for you.

It’s good but could be better
Great app but it has bugs which need fixing. The latest bug is where if you don’t track for a few days (e.g you do a cheat weekend) and then you do (say from Monday), that days tracking disappears and moves to a previous date where you didn’t track. It’s random and can be so annoying. Few other bugs here and there but apart from that it’s a good app. Needs some work from the developers.

Good app but not great for uk users
I like the app, but it there doesn’t seem to be the option to add millilitres, which makes it tricky for UK users. It would be good if you could add multiple foods in one go from your recents to save time too. Also it would be nice if you could change the measurements within each food, so if you find and entry measured in cups, you can alter it to ml’s and it automatically recalculates the numbers. I believe my fitnesspal does this.

Not suitable for Australians - in my opinion
I originally bought this because someone I admire in the fitness world raves about it. Sadly, it didn’t live up to expectations. I believe it’s because the person I copied is Canadian. Sounds like it’s a great product for that region. But here in OZ it hardly ever recognises the brands I use and the measurements (even after converting it). I find the search function clunky. Logging a simple snack can take me ages. I have used others previously so it’s not user error. I really wanted to love it… but I don’t.

Quick response to questions
I have found these guys are always super quick to respond to any questions/problems and always helpful and kind.
Easy to use
I love using this app to help plan my meals and track my macros. Once you have worked out the percentages or amount of each macro it is easy to choose from your saved food list to mix, match and make your meals work for your weight gain/loss goals. It can be quite hard to give yourself a variety of meals so a bit of thought is needed and the odd recipe book if your stuck for ideas. Saying that once you have either saved recipes or favourite meals you can forward plan for a few weeks on rotation to mix things up and keep yourself interested in a sustainable diet/meal plan.
The only down side for me it the initial upload of the individual foods you like to eat. Most of the barcodes I have tried don’t fully match the food or they didn’t work at all. I found myself uploading manually for most of my saved foods. Like I’ve said though, once you have them saved you can just tap and save your daily meals. I particularly like the charts with the macro summary for each day, it’s a good indicator for your intended totals or percentages.
Overall definitely better than other apps I’ve tried.

A really great app
I don’t pay for many apps, but this one was worth it! It’s great to have all of my preferred food and favourite meals on here, very quick to use once it’s set up.
Great Value
I do use the app on and off. But whatever initial cost I couldn’t be happier. It is as good as any other branded dieting app without the monthly fees. Once you have your macros goal you have access to tons of foods already stored in the app- or there’s a handy barcode scanner to make it as simple as possible to calculate your daily intake. It definitely serves to hold me accountable!
