All Versions of Spiritulator

3.0

April 4, 2017

This app has been updated by Apple to display the Apple Watch app icon. This version accounts for the volumetric contraction of alcohol/water solutions. Calculations are based on density values at 20 degrees Celsius from the International Alcoholometric Tables - OIML. Results are approximate values only, but are significantly more accurate than the standard dilutions equations used in previous versions. Care should be taken to prevent over-dilution of your spirits.

Description of Spiritulator

This app calculates the amount of water to dilute a known volume and percentage of alcohol. The user enters the number of liters or gallons of the sample to be diluted, the known alcohol percentage of the sample, and the desired final alcohol percentage. The app will then calculate the amount of water to add in gallons or liters. Calculations are based on density values at 20 degrees Celsius from the International Alcoholometric Tables - OIML. Results are approximate values only, but are significantly more accurate than standard dilutions equations. Care should be taken to prevent over-dilution of your spirits.

    Developer Response

Please specify why it’s useless and not user friendly. All others have rated it 5 stars. Do you have experience diluting distilled spirits? Please let me know how to improve. Thanks.
  • Work like a charm

Colors a bit trippy, but it does what it supposed to 👍😉
  • Now accurate for small volumes too!

Thanks for the update!! The additional 2 decimals make this app perfect for the brew hobbyist. Thanks for listening and responding with this update !!!

Happy to change my rating to 5 stars!!!

    Previously:
App rounds to only one decimal point, fine if you are dealing with hundreds of gallons or liters, but not accurate enough when working with volumes of less than 1 liter or gallon. Example: this app says to add 400 ml to 700 ml of 76% ABV to create a 50% solution. That would actually yield a 47.8% solution. Correct answer would be to add 364 ml.
An easy fix would be to change the App calculation to 3 decimal points.
