Just wish it allowed a “Preferred Device” !
Like most of the VFR community SkyDemon is my preferred planning tool on my kneepad iPad Mini, and I also keep a fixed tablet on my RV9 panel for navigation.
But only allowing 2 logged on SkyDemon devices is a MAJOR pain (and totally arbitrary with a subscription?..). It’s handy in a pub chatting to friends about a possible trip….but….if I dare log into SkyDemon on my phone I know my panel (always the f’ing panel) will be logged out.
So next flight I’ll be on the ramp, engine running, requesting airfield information, to find I’m logged out and have to mess about trying to remember passwords or doing resets….why isn’t my email working?….whilst holding up traffic or missing my flight plan time….why SkyDemon?…why??

SkyDemon has transformed my flying!
Can’t add much to the summary above really - I had a break of almost twenty years from flying light aircraft and my recollection was of scrabbling around in the cockpit for chinagraph-smudged, badly folded paper charts. The last few years have been a revelation for me, SkyDemon is so immensely capable, enormously intuitive and just a joy to use. I have no doubt it helps me every time I fly to be a better and safer pilot. Thank you

Doesn‘t Work with iPad OS17
Was decent tool.
Since software update, it will not function unless the app was already installed.
Any new device will crash as the app tries to download every single chart existing!!
There is no way to chose charts or deselect as in earlier versions. BUGGY !!

Best flight planning and navigation tool available
SkyDemon is just absolutely fantastic, an essential preflight planning and inflight navigation. At a bargain price, it is constantly being improved, and enables you to have the latest up-to-date maps and information. Run it on your PC, tablet and phone, easily sync between your devices so you can fly with a tablet and have your phone as a backup. Brilliant! Definitely the best aviation spend every year. Still after many years this continued to be the Best of the Best, with an absolutely brilliant and responsive support and development team. If all software was as good as this, we would be living in the perfect IT world.
Update in August 2023. Have been using Sky Demon now for so many years, it is just absolutely brilliant, the annual subscription renewal is still the best value spend on my aviation hobby.

A stunning app - 1000% recommend
There is not enough space to express how sensational this app is and how useful it is to pilots. No wonder the director, Tim Dawson, was awarded an OBE for this. It does everything you could want and more while helping pilots stay aware, keep safe and take time out of the flight planning process. If you’re not using this yet, start now. You will not in any way be disappointed.

As good as it can get
Great app, with steadily improving functionality over the 3 years I’ve had it.
Highly recommend, *although* it is irritating that it is limited to two iOS devices at once. I often fly with two iPads (for safety) plus my phone - and I can’t use them all at the same time due to limitations on maximum concurrent logins. It would be much better to have some other checks to prevent abuse of licensing (eg spot check devices are in the same aircraft/retrospectively) rather than put a user in the position they can’t use a backup phone if the first iPad is out of battery and the second has just crashed/overheated (this has happened twice!). Also, the logbook function could be better - hard to curate logs when you fly three different classes of aircraft (SEP, Turboprop and Rotary wing). Some more filtering/searching/manual adjustment would make the logbook feature really useful.
These niggles apart, basically great.

The must-have Nav & awareness for Microlights
Brilliant for not just navigating but also for seeing other aircraft with connected systems like PilotAware and SkyEcho.
Good value if you fly regularly but a bit of a rip off if you only fly occasionally. Could do with a pay as you fly way of subscribing too.
All in all the only Nav software you should ever need for Microlighting and anything that flies under about 150kt so your phone or tablets GPS works.

Totally indespensible
As a VFR pilot flying low level sorties in today’s maze of controlled airspace it is hard to imagine how one can be expected to keep a safe lookout with your head down in a map which has no position information. I still mark up a map for each touring flight but rarely refer to it as Sky Demon has it covered. Since my Pilot Aware info is now displayed on SkyDemon it is hard to fault it. I would also say that my flight planning is much more effective and efficient with it. In a recent flight the aircraft had alternator problems an the radios and the EFIS all failed. SkyDemon running on my iPad saved the day. I do recommend a cooling fan for it as the iPad will shut down when it gets too hot.
