Very Disappointed

The idea of this app is intriguing however Only 1 duck shows up as active in last 30 days. There are several from many years ago. When I try to look at the only active duck tracking ,it stops updating 4 months behind on the map. All of the other birds are turkey vultures, ospreys or golden eagles. When you try to see their track the app crashes. Waste of my money! Don’t let them waste yours!

Bug Riddled and Bad Data

This app is incredibly disappointing. The bugs shutdown the app if you forward through a timeline too fast. There are only a handful of ducks actually giving off “live” data and as far as I can tell, that just means birds that were active this year—in numerous cases, they haven’t pinged since May or August. Obviously should be removed from the live dataset. Furthermore, raptors are a significant portion of the 1,350 birds they advertise… so either rename the app or make it actually waterfowl centric.

It was cool for about 15 minutes, until I realized all these things. There’s huge potential in this if a real effort is made to co-sponsor satellite information with wintering birds, ones that would cover a significantly variable portion of the flyways. Jack Miner hosts birds local to the Great Lakes region and very few waterfowl enthusiasts could give a rip about that.

To summarize, this app is nowhere near worth a 9.99/month subscription.

Don’t waste your money

There are not hardly any new ducks on this app. Most have been off for several years. There are some local ducks that don’t migrate. It’s a total waste of money. The app shuts down every time you look at the tracking as well.

Wont let me make an account never had the app before and I’m not the first person to have this issue, I know other people as well!

Response from developer

We apologize for the inconvenience. A recent update caused this issue, but we’ve since resolved it. We hope you’ll give the app another try! Believe me we were as frustrated as I am sure you were when we discovered this issue!

Fun, but outdated information

Every bird shown is inactive and has been for years. Rather disappointing

Response from developer

If you look at the "live" map by changing the filter at the top of the map page you can see the active birds!

Fun, informative, need a bit more

I’ve really been enjoying a lot of the historical moments. On the live/ active birds you can’t zoom in enough to click on new data points if they are close to each other. Leaves a bit to be desired as you click repeatedly trying to hit the pin you are hoping for. Overall it’s a great program and mission but would like to dive deeper into the data and zoom in more.

Response from developer

We appreciate your feedback! We're working on simplifying the process of selecting birds that are close together. In the meantime, here are a couple of features that might help: - List View: At the bottom of the screen, you'll find a list view where you can select a bird more easily. - Search Bar:In the top-right corner, there’s a search bar to quickly look up specific birds. Additionally, all live-action bird data will transfer to the "archive map" after a 120-day delay. The archive map will have no zoom limitations, which should help address the issues you’re experiencing.

Fun and Informative

As a wildlife enthusiast, I came for the tracking data but stayed for the interactive platform. This app really makes bird tracking mobile and fun!

Such a cool idea / app

Kudos to whoever developed this. The data gives you insight into waterfowl migratory patterns that is extremely insightful. Very interesting for outdoors enthusiasts and/or data nerds

Great Tool!

Great way to learn about the movement of waterfowl!!
