  • Quality TD

As a new player I found the pricing to be fair - about 5 bucks and some thought about how i spent it let me complete the game no prob, and the game is easily worth that. Excellent graphics, solid TD with enough depth to be interesting, well made maps which had some thought put into them, and open-style free play modes for much greater than average replay value. Worth the buy.

  • Excellent TD Game

I have enjoyed playing this game quite a bit and have found the graphics and gameplay to be very smooth and entertaining. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is a small issue that I hope gets taken care of in updates...

For such a polished app, you would think it would have the option of playing your own audio in the background. I've enjoyed playing games like Plants vs Zombies for endless hours while listening to Pandora, Podcasts, or whatever, but I always find it very frustrating when a good game does not give this option.

I will definitely give up that last star if this issue is taken care of. Thanks

  • Almost a great game

There's definitely big potential for this game, it's just a whole bunch of minor elements that you might not pick up on individually but as a whole it's apparent.

One example is an inconsistent UI in regards to coins and gems, they both mimic each other visually yet one automatically gets collected while the other requires a tap. The towers missing their range until you confirm the purchase and selling for half price rather than having a slight cool down to quickly correct a misplacement. Both combined punish the player unfairly and needlessly.

With a little tightening up in the design it should be a great TD to add to your collection!

  • Really good game

It's a basic tower defense game with a twist. There are levels, power ups, and difficulty settings. The art is very nice and gameplay is smooth. Great job, developers! I highly recommend this game.

The only thing I'd like to see is a tutorial. When I first started the game, I had no idea what I was doing. Tower descriptions help, a monster "almanac" would help and would give a great opportunity to show off the artwork. Some of us like to see concept art!

I really wouldn't add a storyline. I like that I can just play the game and not have to waste time sifting through a story and sapping battery power. I like the monsters and that they do different things. I like the powerups. I like the challenges. All it needs is a little tutorial round and this app is perfect. I also don't hate the music. Some of us are just looking for a fun game on our phones, not a full on medieval "experience".

  • Favourite Td

The balancing on this game is fantastic. Most games are either far too easy, or you hit next to impossible sticking points. In this game, and I am half way through, normally fail on the first attempt, and succeed on the second or third after a replan. Also no ISP, which is a good thing.
  • Not the most original

I DLed this game with high hopes. But apart from the nice graphics it is just a very standard tower rush game. Monsters rush towards the exit and you build towers to defend. The loot is mostly coins and bombs. There are no artifact type loots that can give you buffs or something that you can keep from game to game. The random waves are a nice touch I must say.

  • Avoid this game

One of the worst TD's I have ever played. Totally random game. Meaning that on level 1 or 2 you might get a wave of ten high HP enemies in a row that there is no way in heck you are ready for. Then you can replay it and never see those guys.
What's worse there are trophy prizes, that are totally random. So you might play through it 6 times and the trophy beast won't show, or 10 will come out in a row and be so over powering you will have to restart in frustration.
This game has no strategy to this game at all, just random luck. You find this out before you finish the first zone. And after that you are just left trying to squeeze your money's worth out of the game hoping it gets better. It doesn't. I beat it and I just hate it more.
The towers shoot inconsistently, there aren't clear explanations as to what they do and they are a huge pain to place just right. Good luck trying to stack towers close together.

Please just avoid this game altogether. Not even worth a buck.
Not a TD or a good game. Just a frustrating waste of good graphics, sound and money.

  • Dull and poorly balanced

Tower defence games can be relatively simple but revealing a strategic depth after extended play. A good example of this is Kingdom Rush which I found to be a superb tower defence game.

Sadly Towers n' Trolls is no Kingdom Rush. The game is charmless, dull and above all poorly balanced. At no point do you ever get the sense that there is a good strategic balance you can achieve with the correct combination of towers. The fact that the game randomises the waves adds to this frustration.

With its usual combination of fast firing and weak towers, slowing towers and the heavy weapon, slow firing towers nothing really breaks the mould in terms of core gameplay mechanics but the fact that you could easily be confronted with a heavy enemy after less than a few rounds before you get up to speed causes the game to feel haphazard and irritating.

If you're after a good tower defence game get Kingdom Rush HD, which has far more charm and is more fun to play than this.

  • Dont be fooled by nice graphics and over the top comments.

This game is over hyped. I wish I had not purchased it. :(
    Pros:
    It has nice graphics
The animations are nice and smooth.
    The sounds are OK.
    Cons
The game play is not that great.
Doesn't bring anything new to TD
Collecting gems is all most pointless
The difficulty is up and down.
I hate the way towers are damaged.
You always feel like you're behind the 8 ball.
If you win, you feel like it was a fluke.
    Maps are short.
Not a lot of variation in play.
I thought the random wave generation doesn’t add anything to game play.

  • Almost worth the price

Great tower defense game with a twist (bombs, etc). Needs endless mode when you complete chapters. Music doesn't match the theme of the game.
