  • Exactly what NIM should be 👍🏼

I’m going to teach NIM to a group of students of mine (2nd graders) and have them analyze the game on their own terms. This app will be perfect for it.

For the most challenging setting I recommend “Randomize Board” ON, and
    “Who Goes First” RANDOM
If “Computer Difficulty” is set to HARD, the computer will play the optimal game to win, so one mistake on your end and you are toast. I haven’t checked how well the computer plays in MEDIUM.

    A couple small suggestions:
    1) increase number of heaps and/or add setting to select number of heaps
    2) add setting that lets one select who wins when picking the last piece (this shouldn’t affect the programming too much as it only affects the “end game”)
  • Great game!

Very cool game. My geometry teacher offered us an A on a test if we could beat him. I didn’t during the school term, but I found a BASIC programming book, programmed it into my computer, then figured out how the computer beat me. It would be so much more fun if there was more than one way to guarantee a win, but it is fun challenging myself to see if my unknowing opponents can figure out what is going on. Most of the time I can deceive them.Otherwise, I just go to that same first move to guarantee a win
