Description of Verbal Me Sampler

This is a sample version of Verbal Me, a basic AAC and choice board app designed by special needs teachers for their students. Non-verbal kids can tap a button and the iPad will speak the button text aloud in either a boy's or girl's voice. This limited version includes 14 screen choices: yes-no, A-B-C, 1-2-3-4-5, Happy-Mad-Sad-Calm, Day-Night, bullying, weather, colors, fruits, letter sounds. Buttons contain text and/or picture so non-reading students can participate. By default, left- and right-arrow buttons allow students to switch screens. Optionally, the screen-switching buttons can be hidden and the adult switches screens by sliding one finger from the upper right to the lower left of the screen. Choose one of 18 screens and girl or boy voice. On the Settings screen, there is a link to the full version Verbal Me app with over 100 screen choices. A Spanish-language version is also available.

Reviews of Verbal Me Sampler

  • Absolutely awesome

Having worked with autistic children for over 13y and seeing the difference PECS make in their day to day life, I decided to give this app a try with my 14 month old daughter. I used the 6 adaptable box page added pictures important things for her (nap, hot milk, drink, snack, outside & medicine) Today, just 4 days after putting these into use she took my phone and indicated that she wanted a drink! Then after her nap, she once again made it clear she wanted the phone and showed me she was ready for a snack. WOW!!!
We also use baby sign language to communicate but this is really going to help make both our lives less stressful when working out what’s wrong.
    THANK YOU SO MUCH
  • SLP

I like the app but would LOVE the app if it allowed for customization. My students NEED the visual supports that we use in class but in an app form. Hope this is in the developers plan.
  • Very helpful

My son has autism and this app is really helpful for him to communicate but wish there was more in the free version, his health care is costly so I can spend extra money for paid version, but really good app.
