  • It could be sooo much better!

Edit: while I still feel like this app is much overdue for a makeover considering the new rise in the iOS music production eco system. I have been able to figure out how to use it within the iPad. I appreciate the developer replying which triggered me to try it again, even tho they still didn’t explain how it works. This app could sorely use better documentation to its features so people know how to use it. But making this app AUv3 compatible as a midi controller would reawaken its truest power. Please consider an update! 👍🏾

This app has the potential to be a game changer for music creation. But...the integration with other midi app is HORRIBLE!! I have to EMAIL the chords to myself?? And then the midi files aren’t even recognized by my iOS daws. Why not just have an export option?? 🤦🏾‍♂️ At this stage in iOS music this just comes across as a dinosaur when you can’t integrate it with at LEAST AUV3 capability. It’s a midi controller that probably works great for a Bluetooth controller...but to add it my arsenal of iPad production tools, it needs some way to actually use it WITH other apps. I gave it two stars because it’s not completely useless...but it’s so frustrating to implement that it might as well be. There’s no help to understand the app at all from the developers. Which would be nice for something that basically one of a kind. I feel like I wasted my money....and I’m not happy about that. I can only pray they will update this app but at this point it looks like just a dud that coulda been a stud!

    Developer Response

Responding second time: you CAN send MIDI directly to other apps. I use it to control other apps to perform all the time. The email thing is just a fun convenience feature but there IS inter app MIDI without the need for AUV3. the synth is cool in here but wasn't meant for AUV3 control. You can already just play MIDI directly into other iOS DAWs with a piano roll. the email feature is just a bonus/plus
  • Looks neat!

At only 15mb it looks well developed too.
  • Awesome Beginner App

Works great! Took me a minute to figure out how to run it through my DAW but once I did, it worked great!
  • Can't give it stars if it won't work.

Yo the app looks dope and I'm sure it sounds dope once hooked up to a daw but I think you should really put a step by step of how you can connect it because for some reason I go thru the same steps I've seen on tutorials with 0 luck. I paid for this app and I can't get any response/advice from the developer. I know the app works for some but the fact that I can't get a response tells me customer service ain't part of this at all.

    Developer Response

You can just connect it via Audio/MIDI Settings with a cable connected and click Connect on iPad. Or use a MIDI / ipad interface OR use a free iPad Midi transmitting app like MidiLE/MidiMittr
  • Dope!!

Had a very newbie understanding of how scales related to one another but this app has expanded my understanding of music theory all together
  • Dope app

This app is really cool, it helps me understand how the music works without proper musical training. It's really easy to get into the zone and and just experiment with different combinations of sounds. Mike Gao finally fixed the issues with the synths on ios8 so now you can use this app standalone.

You can also hook up this app to Ableton (and other DAWs that work with network midi). I am going to make a video how to do that soon, you should be able to find it by googling polyplayground ableton setup.

  • Amazing sound, connecting to DAW hard

So Mike how do I connect this to ableton? The network midi doesnt work for me. Its a great app, great sound... Simply amazing.. Once it connects to a daw, im gonna take the game over lol.
  • MUST buy isomorphic keyboard!

This is one of the most intuitive, flexible isomorphic keyboards for iOS. I've owned it since It since it was released, and not only has it been rock solid, but I've used it as a midi controller in many productions.

With version 2 Mike has made everything even more flexible, an I just have to say - big up mike - you make my max patches look like toys. Keep at it - and everybody else, buy this badboy now!

  • Lost all sound with the update

I really liked this app, but I lost all sound output with the latest update. I removed the app and re-installed it, and it worked fine. Not sure what happened, but I love this app. Keep up the good work.
