Did I Beat This Game? I Got to Level 21
This is a really marvelous game of position and audio memory training. But I just don’t get why for each level I only get 20 pairs of stimulus. That would seem to defeat the purpose of brain training for Level 21 and higher levels. I suggest that for Level N>=21, the game have at least N pairs of stimulus, and even have a survival mode of N*n pairs of stimulus (n is infinity) to see how many pairs it takes before any player fails. Also, I suggest adding speed settings for this wonderful Dual N-Back challenge.I’d give it 5 stars if…
…they would add a manual N level setting feature.
I know they believe that people learn better with automatic N levels and that it discourages people from using memory tricks.
The problem with that assumption is they aren’t taking into account neurodiversity.
Brains come in a variety of models. And age ranges. Not everyone learns best with their sink-or-swim style of learning.
For me, the automatic N levels make this app a truly miserable exercise in constantly failing down. I learn best slowly with repetition. Before I can get any traction on a level I’m bumped up to the next level where I flounder and fail down. I never get any traction on that next level. It’s like being rewarded for achievement with failure.
I’ve tried this game on and off for years and I’ve never improved.
Worse, it’s made me feel so discouraged that I had to delete the app because just seeing on my screen was making me feel like I was back in grade school, an undiagnosed dyslexic, being told by the teacher that I just wasn’t trying. Hard pass! I now know how to try smarter.
I found another similar app that does let you manually set the N levels. What a difference. I actually look forward to using it. It doesn’t have as good a UI. This app has the best, I’ll give them that.
But those automatic N levels are the deal breaker.
Hey Devs, trust your users to know their best learning styles.Awesome!
This game is great. I find it to be pretty difficult. I didn’t understand it even after I walked through the tutorial 3 times. It started to click after just playing for a bit. Im getting better every time I play. Thanks.
